Based on the feedback (thank you to all members who participated) in our last attempt to set up a GD Racing Club we have now decided to start small and create an Irish based Syndicate (hopefully the first of many across the world). This will be for all our members around the world to join in and have a bit of fun and enjoy the excitement of racing! Let the banter begin.....
This will be a normal Syndicate format.
Buy in will be 500.
Aim is to buy 1 dog/bitch at the upcoming sales in Shelbourne Park.
Monthly cost will be an all-in 300 ( per dog) split equally amongst members (significant vet fees and International travel extra - otherwise no extra costs). So if we get 10 members it will be 30 a month each per dog.
Brilliant idea and dog or bitch goin to top man in martin Lanney hope the club has plenty of success

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, Martin is a top bloke and a fantastic trainer. The value he offers is second to none and he is the perfect choice for our syndicate.
Now all we need is members - so come on all, don't delay and join today!
Where will the dog race? Are ye looking for a sprinter or middle distance dog? Who is bidding for the dog on behalf of the syndicate? I know a lot depends on the numbers but a bit more info might help people make up their minds. Dermot

As ive asked on the other post on this matter, will the members be entitle to stud fee money if the dog becomes a superstar. Who will buy or make the choice of the 2. I would be intrested but would like answers before I commit

Hi Dermot,
The plan would be to start in Spk and then go wherever suits the Dog.
No particular preference in regard to type of Dog but we will see all trials and then make up our mind.
Hopefully if most could make it to the sales on the day, we could all have a say in what we like etc and make it a team decision. There will be no one individual making the choice. If someone can't make it they can nominate another member on their behalf or the trainer Martin Lanney to caste their vote.
Once the dog is in training the trainer will have final decision on all racing matters.

Hi Bobby,
This will be a normal syndicate with each member holding an equal share. The dog will be owned by each member of the syndicate. If the dog turns out to be a superstar well then each member will be entitled to their share. Hopefully we can make team decisions in purchasing at the sales with Trainer having final say in all racing matters.

Just to make it clear:
GD will take a fully paid up equal share in the dog along with the members who join the syndicate. Each share will be full owner of that % - this is not a lease.
The dog will race under the prefix: GeeDee
The Syndicate will be called Greyhound-Data 1 and if it is successful and we buy another dog that Syndicate will be called Greyhound-Data 2 and so on
Greyhound Data will create a special thread where all members can share their thoughts and have a bit of craic.

That's the spirit Bobby - the more the merrier!!! We need the numbers to ensure we have options at the sales. With enough people we could pick up something very nice and have a lot of fun!

27 days till the sales, but u need to join up before the day so we as a syndicate will know if we have 10k to spend or 20k ect.ect. So probably 3 weeks, it could be a fun way for 5 or 6 lads that have a pint together to buy a share between them.. I have been going to the sales all my life and the disappointment when someone outbids u is hard to take, this way we could all have the last say. I have 12 dogs that I train myself at the min but I still think this is a wonderful way to meet new friends and contacts. So don't regret missing this opportunity ,join today before its too late.....

Great idea Peter splitting the one share 4 times! Fair play - I see you will go into a another group if someone was short. It sure will be some craic if we got a Saturday night Dog!
