I was entered today at Traralgon Afternoon meet and i had the red box in a rated event so i had a real chance of winning ...

My first thought this morning was to SCRATCH because of this first real day of heat we are having in and around Melbourne ..SO I DID without thinking about it twice..

Now i just received a TEXT from the GRV sating the meeting will go ahead today at 37 deg expected but i think we will hit 40 deg .

They say please ensure Dogs travel in cool conditions and no barking muzzles aloud at all today and they say get to the track and get inside as quickly as possible and many dogs take a good 15 min to empty out before kenneling and any Trainer knows that so this is my question to you all ..

WHY HAVE THE GRV ALLOWED THIS TO TAKE PLACE ...
WELFARE WELFARE WELFARE WELFARE ...A bloody disgrace and i let fire back on my text and shortly iu will ring the GRV and speak to the Animal welfare TEAM and i feel this is very very important to CANCEL ALL RACING TODAY ...

THIS IS THE MENTALITY WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH PEOPLE AND THIS IS WHY WE ARE ALWAYS GETTING SCREWED OVER ...

GRV ANIMAL WELFARE YOU ARE A JOKE AND A DISGRACE AND PLEASE CHARGE ME BECAUSE I WOULD LOVE TO LET RIP AT YOU ALL ...

BIG AL Clayton

This is not good enough Mate ...you made these claims about welfare but the first sign of when we need welfare your bloody ignorent team of Animal so called welfare officers send out the text WE ARE RACING STILL THIS AFTERNOON AT TRARALGON ..

Chop the fools who made this decision and then it wont happen again ..

The GRV still has time to call OFF this meeting and to the people traveling to Traralgon form a couple hours away DON'T RACE ....DON'T TRAVEL

It will reach extreme conditions in the afternoon and it will reach well over the expected temperatures ...

Days like today can ruin any young dog and can end the career of the older dog as well ..

We are all now so restricted in what we give to help combat these things happening but today a simple B12 shot will knock you over in the cobalt readings and this why days like today you must not run dogs regardless of any reasons it will be your downfall .....Its very hard to help assist a race dog today because everything you give to help tackle extreme heat and work load has been BANNED ...Great isn't it ..lol

First call to Stewards ..Purdy in fact and she is a nice person to deal with so me told me her side and now i am waiting for the Welfare team to be in the office and a few emails here and there over the next hour should see this MEETING ABANDONED ...I hope

Integrity department is also on the radar ....

IT IS 28 right now in dandenong in the shade but there is a very hot wind strong 31km/h
NNE wind with this heat ...

This is our first day of REAL SUMMER IN VIC ....

I hope the VET ON TRACK checks each dogs TEMPERATURE before kenneling ....

IF ANY DOG today has heat stress after the race THEN IT ON GRV's BACK alone ....
The GRV have to accept responsibility as well as the people deciding to still race ....

Well that was interesting i just spoke to Animal Welfare .and i was told they cannot make any decisions on racing in the heat .
I was told they cannot abandon racing on one person's phone call..
I ask what role does the Animal welfare team play in this and he said it was out of his hands and turned it into a personal thing but please this is not about being personal it's about the WELFARE of dogs racing on our first HOT DAY ...33klm north wind is starting to bite .

I did say that i hope that the Vet checks each dogs temputure on arrival and i will be looking at the stewards reports as well and this is a test case you could say and WHO IS LOOKING AFTER WHO .....
This is why we must take back control and with a top heavy 170 plus employees at the GRV better start ACTING for the WELFARE of our hounds or do we need AA AND THE RSPCA again asking questions ...OR MAYBE a few emails sent to a few MP'S ...could help them see clearer

I am watching Big Al

....and i am recording and taking notes of all calls and any relevant details will be passed onto the integrity team at the GRV ....as yet they have not returned my calls ...

The big Chief and the GRV are big talkers and they run around saying the right things but will they act when there is a need to protect the welfare of our dogs and is this a TAB thing as well and do we need this kind of situation continuing all over summer again YEAR AFTER YEAR we are FORCED to race at ridiculous times over our hot summer months
BAN TWILIGHT RACING OVER SUMMER .....

WOW SO instead of putting up the new time early before scratchings would of allowed us all to reconsider things being a lot later on ..

They did it with Ballarat but they failed to do it before scratching time again so that leaves the people like myself once again out in the cold u could say and it is just not good enough to say this after scratching times CLOSE
RIDICULOUS

i CAnnot believe the amount of people prepared to risk there dogs racing at the hottest part of the day ...Scratchings CLOSED 9am ...
tHE grv ANNOUNCE THAT BALLARAT WILL BE MOVED BEFORE SCRATCHINGS BUT THEY FAILED TO DO THIS FOR THE traralgon meet ...

Now i see the people who stayed in did not scratch because of the heat policy and these people are prepared to race dogs in the hottest part of the day so well done to all of you people and don't complain when your dog dies of heat stroke or gets water diabetes or acidosis ...

I still expect the VET TO CHECK EACH DOGS TEMPERATURE ON ARRIVAL TODAY ......

I WILL BE EVEN MORE INTERESTED TO SEE THE STEWARDS REPORTS ....

Failure by the VET today to ensure each dog has not become to stressed will be paramount if we are now being seen to be all about the WELFARE and surly this is now an INTEGRITY problem as well .

There say we all make our own destinies and through the new rules of racing we cannot even give electrolyte replacements for fear of going over with COBALT ...

We need to be able to give fluids in all forms HOMEOPATHIC WHO CARES our dogs need help at times and the heat will just make things so much harder for trainers and we allowed this to happen so who IS TO BLAME and this must be looked at because this year i predict a HUGE RISE in HEAT stroke water diabodies and acidosis ...

Here in Dandenong it is rising up and at present it is 33.2 last updated 20 min ago ..

For dogs to experience such a huge rise in HOT WEATHER is a real concern all of a SUDDEN
I only wanted to highlight was the the failure by the GRV to really listen to any of us wanted to outline the lack of Integrity shown so far by the GRV has to be questioned ..

We talk about WELFARE and here this is slapping us all once again in the face ....

If we are to continue on with 100% transparency then i feel this is still lacking so much and if the GRV fail to listen once again to us all then WHO IS TO BLAME US OR THEM ..

COBOLT LEVELS ARE WAY TO LOW for Australian race dogs and the heat factor alone tells us we need the thresholds lifted or we will have many vets with dogs on a drip all over summer IS THIS A WELFARE CONCERN and if this happens then who is to blame US OR THEM ..

Now if the GRV feel that they have things in order then i can tell you they are not....WHO IS RIGHT OR WRONG

I await Rob the VETS reports and steward reports and as i keep saying i hope the VET checks every dogs temperature tonight before KENNELING

33.7 and rising fast so i am hoping you guys get a cool change by kenneling ..

The 1st Race will begin at 6:45PM.

Interesting to see if that cool change hits early or not but i feel i backed a winner today regardless now the wait for a start in a race begins again .. lol

Seems crazy......

We all knew today was going to be high 30s so why didn't they make a dision on Sunday.

We get 7 day forecasts so they would have had an idea that Monday was going to be hot.

Darren in this day and age we can at least do something to help the welfare of our dogs and i am da bit surprised and bamboozled at the response i received today from both Stewards and the Animal welfare team at the GRV

i am looking for the Vet Cert saying they tested dogs before kenneling for Temperature and hydration.

I look at the trainers who were in today and ask myself how many of those dogs had aircon and or cooling fans early on in the day and what kind of rehydration did people use to help their dog recover faster .

Apparently the Animal Welfare team cannot call off a event but they have no problems telling trainers they must have shade and water 24/7 and you cannot take a dog out for one minute at home without these requirements so how is taking a race dog to the track on our hottest day ANY BLOODLY DIFFERENT

You drive to the track and then you have to walk them around in the sun waiting to empty them all out so they don't empty in the kennels and then they are placed for upto 4 hours without WATER and raced without water and most tracks these days take a few minutes to walk to the boxes in the SUN ...

Double standards ....

100% Transparency I thought the GRV were listening
so where do we go now ...
Do we sit back waiting for the Anti's to take pot shots at us or do we ban racing over summer and only allow racing to start at 8pm and run some early morning racing and then we solve a very mayor Welfare and integrity problem ....

I don't care about the TAB and truly do we continue on the same way and as far as i see things the GRV have just put some bandaids on some very concerning area's of animal Welfare ...

THE LIST GROWS ...
I have told the GRV that they are on notice over this and if it takes me to once again fall on my sword over this then so be it you all know me by now ...LOL

I find the total lack of any true understanding participants face today by the GRV and just because they are our regulators does not entitle them to run us into the ground so isnt it great we have social Media to share our information

Unlike yourself Anthony i question those that hold all the answers good or bad they either except it or they fix it .

We are supposed to all be moving forward but today maybe i did get it wrong about Big Al and so what who cares and as long as they continue on what they set out to do then i do not care but i do care when we have DOUBLE STANDARDS.
