Hi Johnathon, not they are not. So much for the theory "build it and they will come", lol.

It is very handy for fundraising auctions which GD do from time to time. Next week we to hope to put one on for the Irish Greyhound Fighting Fund.

It's a shame Tony I thought it would take off.

Tony I considered throwing a pup up for Auction to give it some support but if it's not eat branded you cannot do so.
I can understand why but 1000s of pups are sold before ear branding and maybe it could be lifted so pups can be sold on the Auction site?

Hi Johnathon, the problem is we need to ensure the buyer gets exactly the pup he bids for. Maybe we could lift the ear branding and make a photo mandatory.

What do you think?

Would you buy a pup sight unseen at 1-2 months before ear branding from someone from greyhound data??? I doubt any one would......

Let's say you did there were 8 in the littter 4 black dogs you buy one ( the one with the green collar ) then he sends photos of your lovely pup. You pick it up at 3 months old and it's this little runt that doesn't look anything like what your photos looked like. There could be a big shit fight......

For me most pups if not all that are sold on greyhound data are ear branded and are sold at 3 months of age.

You can still auction your pups on here you just have to wait till they are 3 months of age.

I thought the auction may have been a big hit and I'm surprised it hasn't taken off. A year it just needs tweaking.

I think from memory a few people voiced there opinions about maybe setting a reserve price. That may attract more interests. I know if I seen a dog with a rerserve price and I thought that dog could be a good buy I would invest my time on bidding and watching the auction.

I know a few people who think people have just put dogs-pups on there hoping they might get a high price imo that's why people don't even bother looking.

Just food for thought..... it's not working it' needs tweaking.

Darren good points and Maybe Tony should consider some ideas u talk about ..
Maybe if you have some time along with one or two other people you can have a crack and come on board the \Data team to assist in the operation of the site on the Auction side ..Maybe Tony would consider some more members enrolment to help get it ticking over because the concept is a great idea but as you say some tweaking here and there could help it become a very useful tool for us all

Any person that I've ever bought a pup off has been unseen without an ear brand.
I've just sold 8 pups all unseen all without an ear brand.
I've got a pup flying out from Melbourne tomorrow never seen it or know it's ear brand.

I think when someone bids they know what there bidding on and I've got two bitchs both the same both black and if I sold one of Id let the bidder pick there's and Id keep the other or it would be sold.
The pup I was going to throw up could sell for $1500 and I got $4500 for all the others so the bidding is out of my hands it's just a show of support.
Others should stop whingeing and have a go.

Gotcha we were talking about piping a pup up for auction that hasn't been ear branded. The system won't allow it unless the ear brand is registered as part of the Auction.
Darren had concerns about a pup being auctioned unseen.
My opinion is you can easily buy a pup through the auction without an ear brand.
It would be good to see more life on the Auction site.

we have sold plenty of pups that were not earbranded some before they are even born,, but no pup ever leaves here before they are 16 weeks old ,

Happy to agree to disagree.

I'm surprised the Auction site hasn't taken off. I think it's a great idea.

Maybe a reserve price might attract more interests ( maybe not ) Me personally if I seen a pup on there with a reserve price of let's say $2k but I thought it was worth closer to $3k I would probably show more interests and a bidding war might start.

I believe most people look at the Data Auction and think the people want top dollar and don't even bid as they think there wasting there time.

You need to attract people it's not working so changes need to be made.

There is a reserve price and when your placing an item for sale it asks if you want the buyers to see it. I see my reserve at $1500 and yes buyers can see it.
Only because it asked for an ear brand I couldn't place the pup up for auction.
I was merely trying to get somthing happening and maybe others would follow.
I personnaly would bid on pups of any age if the breeding was there.

For a trial period, you no longer have to put it an ear brand to enter a pup for auction.

I'll give it a go Tony.
Let's see how it goes and hopefully others will support it.
You never know Darren may buy it.

A little bit on the pup up for Auction.
Jagger Swagger
(Premier Fantasy-Surpassing)
Sensational sprinter, one of the best of his time, and already a proven
sire. Winner of the G1 National Derby, G2 Richmond Derby, and Bulli Gold
Cup, he was also a finalist in the G2 Qld Derby. He won 20 and was placed 11
times in 37 starts for $173,000 in stakes. Possessed of great speed he won
in 29.56 at Wenty Pk, 29.47 at The Gardens and 29.82 at Albion Park. He is
from the wonderful Reckless Abandon (WPk TR) damline. His 2nd dam is Frosty
Fruits (Rich Oaks, 2nd Qld Fut, finalist G1 Nat Futurity). His own dam
Surpassing was fast winner Dapto, Richmond and now a fabulous producer. His
litter included star WA stayer Reverberate.

Love To Rock
(Turanza Bale-Flamenco)
Litter sister to champion My Bro Fabio (G1 Perth Cup, G1 Temlee, G1 Hume
Cup, 29.10 Sandown) and Warrior King (G2 Bendigo Cup, 3rd G1 Easter Egg,
finalist G1 Hume Cup) this is the famous Key Dancer/Spanish Dance female
family one of the world's foremost producing lines.
Love To Rock's dam Flamenco (multiple city distance winner) is a sister to
record breaking sprinter and top class sire Mogambo and the G1 runner-up
staying bitch Lady Arko herself a proven G1 class producer. 2nd dam Zarbo
was a track record breaker and has become one of Australia's foremost
producers.
Love To Rock has already produced the superstar sprinter Matt Machine (by US
stud dog SH Avatar) who by the time he was just two years and three months
had already been in the Group 1 Melbourne Cup and Group 1 Silver Chief. He
has won in 29.79 at The Meadows. He is one of Australia's most exciting
young sprinters.

The Mating
Putting Love To Rock to Jagger Swagger brings in a number of proven crosses.
The first is the proven cross between Collision (damsire of Jagger Swagger)
with Where's Pedro (damsire of Love To Rock) a cross that has produced
numerous Group stars.
But the mating also continues the successful HB's Commander link to Love To
Rock. SH Avatar (sire of Love To Rock's star G1 son Matt Machine) has HB's
Commander in his direct damline. Premier Fantasy (sire of Jagger Swagger)
carries HB's Commander in his sireline.
But the clincher for this mating is the fact Jagger Swagger has already
worked to produce Group finalist Very Choosy (Jagger Swagger-Zipping Venus)
to the same family as Love To Rock. Very Choosy's third dam is Gold
Serenade. Love To Rock's third dam is also Gold Serenade.
