RONNIE MCKEOWN
The death has occurred of popular greyhound trainer Ronnie McKeown from Hillsborough in County Down.

The regular leading trainer at Drumbo Park in recent years, Ronnie was a frequent and very successful visitor to Shelbourne Park along with assistant Nigel Bain.

He will be sadly missed by his wide range of friends in the greyhound world and we extend the sincerest sympathies of the greyhound fraternity to his family.

Funeral details later.

May He Rest in Peace

People have posted their condolences on greyhound FB groups and also under the Drumbo topic on GD. I hope Ronnie's family can read all the notices as his loss is being felt far and wide within our community.

Sorry to hear the sad news of the passing of my good friend Ronnie Mc Keown. I developed a great friendship with Ronnie and Nigel over the years. Ronnie really enjoyed his nights racing in Harolds Cross. He became a great supporter of The Cross and we looked forward to his visits. Ronnie had a fine success rate with his dogs at Harolds Cross. When congratulated on his wins he would always say "Nigel's the Man", passing praise to Nigel. On his visits to Harolds Cross he took great joy in relieving Young Hegarty of a few euro. We will miss the banter.
He will be sadly missed by his Immediate family and also by his Greyhound Family. Hopefully Nigel will continue on the tradition of Greyhound Racing and we look forward to seeing him grace the podium on Harolds Cross nights in Shelbourne Park.
Rest in peace Ronnie.
