Why do vendors leave their ads in the classified listings after items are sold?

For whatever reason they edit the ad advising the item is sold and then leave it there. Why?

Tony i think its terrific promotion for the site , lets others see the results ,

why do realestate agents leave the sold signs on the boards for weeks after sales ,
the site should have a filter that clears sold adds in say 14 days ,

Michael,
I think everyone is aware of this site. I don't think it really needs any advertising to prove it's success rate. I have completed many transactions on this site, one as recent as yesterday.

As Mal says you don't want to be scrolling through ads that shouldn't be there. It also defeats the purpose of being a Gold Member when your ad is relegated to the bottom by default when it could be viewed further up the page. JMO
