In last Fridays sales in Shelbourne Park lot 10 was knocked down sold for 4500 euros Later that day the owner had a call from S.Pk.that his dog had been "thrown up"
Section 5 of conditions of sale state the following Each lot from the fall of the hammer is purchasers risk. Section 8 Each lot sold as it stands,no warranty
Now a scandalous decision was taken by a person or persons to blatantly disregard the conditions of sale and someone must be held responsible for this gross error.
The owner a man involved in dogs for over 40 years is totally disgusted, and rightly so with the way he has been treated.
IGB receive 16 million of tax payers money each year. Is it any wonder this figure is being questioned by non doggy people when we see this example of the way it operates

I was watching the live stream. Said to make sure and have a good look at the dog before bidding. All dogs will be on show before bidding. All sales are final. That's some bs

Francis. Excuse for quashing sale!
A person or persons representing the " purchaser" claimed the dog was lame A person or persons and NOT a veterinary surgeon, but presumably representing S.Pk sales commitee then contacted the vendor on his way home to inform him the sale was quashed.
As i stated in my post all this claim of lameness is irrelevant as it all took place following the drop of the hammer
Finally i can assure you the dog is NOT lame today, and vendor (a very honest man) is very adamant he sold a dog 100 percent sound.

From what I was told dog was brought out of kennel and visibly lame shown to people who organised sale and they imo rightly quashed sale .would you rather the new owner took a lame dog home ? It's no wonder people in uk are getting p!ssed off with being ripped off by some in Ireland ! Imo people selling dogs to good people should want to look after them not blatantly look to have them over (Not saying seller was doing this ) .time will tell whether they were right with this one but bottom line if a dog is lame at time of getting it out kennel they were right to quash it otherwise what type of impression does that give to Irish sales

were the people that allowed the sale of the dog to be quashed qualified to do so did a vet certify the dog as being injured or lame that would surely be the first requirement if he ran in kilkenny last night he must have been on crutches after the race
just curious but how many dogs sold on the bench at this sale

if the dog was visably lame there was no way he would have been ablr to run in Kilkenny.
Shaun I suggest a trip to spec savers for people who detected the very visible lameness in the dog, VERY visible would suggest a long time off. Not a sign of lameness since, Vets cert on Monday. Ran in open pups race on Wednesday finished well back in very hot 29.15 having just failed to make the bend. He is100 per cent sound since
Shaun what conditions of sale do you suggest ? At present as i said in my post sections 5 and 8 are black and white
This case sets a dangerous precedent for future dog sales. I fear lot 10 in S.pk sales may be quoted as an example
S.Pk sales delay in settling this dispute is mind boggling
Shaun whether he was lame or not the dog was sold under the conditions of sale at these sales and these state that at the fall of the hammer the dog has a new owner he should have satisfied himself that dog was what he wanted and was sound and fit for purpose before bidding on the dog there is something wrong when sales personell which it seems doesn't include a vet blocked the sale where in the rules does it allow this to happen and if a vet passed him as ok on Monday morning and he ran the following night and is sound and not lame it is a total joke
the result will be that if a dog has a bit of cramp sale can be quashed with impunity because a precedent has been set in this case
I don't want a client to buy a dog that is injured but if he was sold under the rules the rules apply
I see more work for the legal staff to sort this out or it will finish these sales
nobody answered my question as to how many dogs were sold on the bench at this sale
Chris are you suggesting a vet for testing?Dont the IGB do that directly? The Auctioneer has his conditions in Thurles. These are well known and documented.Maybe Dublin is a different jurisdiction. You can apparently address people differently in Dublin without redress. However sometimes he just doesn't know who is selling the dog.He cant be expected to know everything.Like Tipperary is a big place.Disbursement records can also apparently get lost.We all have IT problems. jaisus peoples memory is not the same with the ould computer. When you go to higher authority like an IGB CHIEF.Fair play to them, they gave me good advice, only 40 years too late, two words BUYER BEWARE.My translation of that is STAY AT HOME.

does anybody know how many lots were sold on the bench if I have read it correctly from an earlier post he was there for about 50 lots and all that sold was three if only three sold out of 50 and there was at least one sale quashed they were a total disaster were the owners reserves too high or was it a lack of customers it is a very worrying effort when that is all that sold in an elite sale in the premier track in the country
Of the 12 that are entered in the stake four have had owners changed as far as I can see. Only 38 dogs trialed on the day. I'm not sure what the clearance rate was, if it was published I've not seen it. There are no results on IGB site.
I think it was/is a good idea but needs to be tweeked.
I'd imagine some vendors didn't know of the rule change that stake entry fee is a percentage of the reserve not the last bid on the bench. The introduction of private trials at Shelbourne wouldn't have helped this sale either.
Best of luck to those that purchased they have good value now as it stands.
Maybe our Australian pals will tell us where we are going wrong I know that the ready to race series goes well over there EXTERNAL LINK note the transparency.
I've got it 15 were sold on the bench. I think there was only 38 that trialed , some of the reserves were little on the high side but I thought most were fair. The English market is very jittery at the moment

Chris, at the Monmore sale last Thursday 35 dogs trialed and were put up for sale, 31 sold on the bench, somebody's still buying.
