I have just seen the betting for the Juvenile Derby and to me it's extremely skimpy odds for such a "Top Class" Competition !! Three dogs are 7/1 Co Favourites in a 66 dog competition OMG !!! I really appreciate Boylesports Sponsorship of the Irish Derby like every owner in Greyhound racing but those odds are "Extremely" short to me !! Best of luck to all Finalists tomorrow night !!!
The general public has no interest in greyhound racing so the bookies dont care either. This is because of the way the industry has been promoted over the past decade. For example one day before the final of the Irish Derby there has been 9,130 bet on the betfair exchange on a market that has been up since before the start of the derby.
In order to give you a comparison, the 16.10 6f handicap at Ayr generated over 500,000 which has been online for just a day.
The greyhound industries' goose is now cooked and to be honest the greyhound owners and breeders deserve everything that they get because of their infighting and not uniting to ensure that they had a say in the management of the industry.
