Today my wife Christine took a stand against the compliance to fill out the national pet registry form in mark up of young Puppies for racing, under the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC). All dogs in Australia are registered under a Nation Pet Registrar. Over a year ago this organisation was taken over by Central Animal Records (CAR). According to CAR if your part of a governing body, (in which we are QRIC) you dont have to fill it out this form at registration.
Most trainers after the live baiting scandal were given and document listing all the greyhounds under their care, by racing Queensland in 2015 -16 to fix up a database that wasn't maintained. This was noted in the Mac Sporran report.

I logged in to CAR and was surprised to have more than 25 dogs in my list, some I haven't seen since puppies. A primary example was I bred a puppy Tyrone four years ago. He was sold at three months with the transfer paper work sent in to Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC). This dog raced for over 3 years under QRIC. After racing the new owner of the dog surrendered TYRONE to the Queensland Greyhound Adoption Programme (QGAP) also administered by QRIC. Notice of retirement was given to the QGAP over a year ago and they noted via face book new owners 26th February 2019.. EXTERNAL LINK This dog was still in my system as the original owner. QRIC didn't request the new owners to fill out the new CAR form. My question will always be, how would I know as the original owner/breeder where the Queensland Greyhound Adoption Programme re homed that dog. They will not release this information due to privacy. If anything bad every happened to Tyrone, according to CAR I am still responsible for this animal and be liable. A QRIC official today blamed new owners for not filling out the forms. I have reviewed all forms under QRIC website and there is no CAR form available or attached to the transfer of ownership form. As treasurer of the Queensland Greyhound Breeders Owners Trainers Association (QGBOTA), I highlighted this matter to our president QGBOTA Mr Stephen Lennon discussing it at the Greyhound Advisory panel over a month ago, advising Martin Lenz QRIC directly to sort this matter out. Today a QRIC official stated why are you being difficult. It would seem that if we question forms or procedures we bullied into it anyway by refusal to mark up our 9 week old puppies. As we have tried to fix so many issues within this department for the last 2 years, QRIC have gradually closed down all avenues of addressing them.
Tax payers are paying for a government service, because Racing Queensland failed to keep accurate records of our greyhounds, noted in the Mc Sporran report. My wife has noted to QRIC she doesn't want her information passed to third parties as per the privacy act as well as there is no need to complete this form.
This governing body QRIC refuses to listen to trainers and will not address any issues and continue to blaming trainers for everything going wrong in our industry. This case they can not blame anyone but their own poor administration. Handing out forms of a defunct organisation is clear evidence of this. Be mindful of your privacy information when you renew your license this year. All our location details are in a race book and gives antis location details. Will let you know how it all goes.
