Hi

I've just noticed the ratings for a dog of mine I bred and race at Hove has changed. Is this due to a revision of ratings for Hove or is there a problem?

Australian GD Ratings haven;t been updated for quite a while

We have new tracks and distances and track records at existing tracks

They need to be maintained more regularly

The rating for the UK were updated by using the information in an article in the Greyhound Star:

EXTERNAL LINK

We always try to do our best with the rating and always appreciate help with track conditions and times changes. The only way we can find out about this is from input from our members.

Please email [email protected] if you have any suggestions regarding the times at your track.

Sandro, you put a lot of work into the current Australian rating and any help or suggestions you can give would be appreciated.

It should be remembered that the rating is only a guide and before purchasing any dog you should do your own homework.

Hi Sandro, if you log out and then log in again you should have access to the Australian Track's 100% times. Please let me know if you have any problem viewing them.

Thanks Sandro for all your help.

I've noticed the correct times are not even going on record now either. If your dog wins it's fine but if 2nd or 3rd ect their time on here isn't the same time as the offical time. Only out . 01 or 2 but this still effects ratings..

Also brandywell track ratings is shocking.. Totally ruines a dogs form on data. As even though does a good time gets

Derry's ratings all dated back to before the reopening.

These have now been changed and dated from the date of re-opening 19/04/2018

you are going by the new greyhound star ratings which do not include the going!wether its a big minus or big plus yet you put the goings on your database which make up your ratings.so how can you change your ratings to now go by a guide that dont even include them, then give a rating which does?total mess.

Formpoints are always calculated by the estimated time which includes the going allowances.

It's always been like this on Greyhound Data

The data set that the Star averages have been worked out from may be too narrow to draw reliable conclusions over distances that arent standard. Also, some tracks have too few open races to be able to draw a fair conclusion. Newcastle fairs badly on this in particular.

Unless we have access to see the data set for each track and each distance we might be basing our average on a very narrow data set. For example, do we know how many opens are run over the 700 at Newcastle in the data set? If its only a handful of opens then its likely to be the top distance performers. Some of those are exceptional and do not therefore provide a fair reflection of what an average open class run might be compared with a maiden open that we commonly see at Romford for instance.

Im not satisfied that the ratings have been reduced for many tracks based on a data set that we can not scrutinise. Its obvious that ratings of 100 are much easier to achieve on some tracks now than they were before, whereas on some tracks like Newcastle they will be very difficult to achieve. Newcastle is not the only track to fair badly in the new ratings.

This is an important issue for breeders and owners as their dogs/pups have been devalued by the new rating system. Id like to see it fair for all across the Irish Sea. Its easier to achieve higher ratings for dogs in Ireland than it is in England now. Thats just my opinion of course based on scanning a few dogs that I know well which have raced in both places

You are right Lynda. The Ratings were unreliable before but they are now totally misleading.

Enchanted Jaguar had earnt 2 points before you changed the ratings and then reversed the changes. During that process he has lost the 2 points he'd earnt? Can you return them please.
