Guys, just to be clear these new web pages are only in the testing stage. At the end of the month we will redirect the search engine back to the pedigree page. We will then take on board all your suggestion and try to implement/change as many as possible. So please continue to lets us know your thoughts and suggestions. No one is going to get upset with any criticism or new ideas but please try to be constructive.

I think we can all agree that the ability to have all the information about a dog in one place is a good thing and that being able to upload dozens of photos or videos or news etc. is also a good thing. We just need to find the right way to implement this and this is why we need your input.

Thankyou to everyone for their input already and thank you to those who have uploaded photos, videos and news. The amount that has been uploaded in such a short time is amazing.

Apologies

But this new way doesnt even compare to the OLD way

To format ,using or anything

Old way leaves new way for dead

See yous in the new month , coz I cant use it or think of anything positive to say at all

Its a shame that advertising seems to have taken control aswell
Total disaster IMOP

Have to go now its doing my head in completely

So upset

OMG this is a major crisis. This is as bad as GBGB altering their website whilst the derby is on! I think if GD got the races upto date first. It's probably got something to do with the Russians using Huawei to spy on another 1.5m aussies.

The timing is not good. After the GBGB glitches which are still not resolved, we are dependant on GD.

Nice to see that more info and photos/videos can be uploaded to each dog. However, can these extras be added without affecting the current layout? Much easier to navigate when its all on the same page like it is currently.

Any news on when the UK results will be updated?

Can I suggest a separate beta testing site and get 20 or 30 or even 50 people from the worldwide membership to test it while you are tweaking things

Hi All,

We are looking at different ways to continue the testing, using the main search engine was just done today to make it easier for people to navigate to the new Dog page so we can start getting the feedback.

First of all can I just say please accept that this is just a testing phase and on completion of testing the way we navigate and the layout of the pages will still remain relatively unchanged.

What we are testing is a new Web Page for all Greyhounds in GD. This will allow for us to create a documented timeline for each dog where the "Whole of Life" of that dog can be recorded. Most of the information currently on GD revolves around the racing career of the greyhound and their transition via homing groups to their forever homes. It usually stops there until the pedigree is updated intermittently to say for example, the dog has sadly passed away. With the new webpage for the dog there is now space for photo's or videos to be uploaded by adoptive owners, for instance, to upload a video of their hounds on the couch watching TV or out for walk etc etc. Or Breeders can upload photos/ videos of their pups in the runs ect to document their pre racing life. These web pages will come into their own when content is added over time and should eventualy become a fantastic record of the whole of life of each greyhound recorded in GD.

GD as we know it is NOT changing, you can still do what you do now and see it how we view it now. If you land in a new style web page for a particular Greyhound just click the PEDIGREE TAB at the top of that page and it will bring you back to the classic GD Pedigree page.

All feedback at this stage is very welcome and please have your say. Just bear in mind we are not changing the current GD website but rather creating a new individual webpage for each greyhound. Put yourself in the shoes of an adoptive owner for instance and see how this might help in documenting life after racing and promoting Greyhounds as pets etc.

I'm pretty confident that I'm not alone in saying that this new page is absolutely woeful. The way it was is relied on and was perfect. I know it is only in testing stages and you're working out the kinks still, but one of the best things was how convenient it was to look up a dogs breeding, weight and what races/times they run

The pedigree link is not working on phone. As far as looking on computer its only an extra two clicks of a mouse not too hard and once your in you can click on siblings/offspring and go straight to their pedigree page. There are lots of changes that I hope are to eventuate in time but if it becomes a headache will they bother? Second offspring on the male side is what Im hanging out for lol

So what your saying is you can only use gdata when you get home or have a home computer no tablets or phones work until kinks ironed out !

Good stuff

Ps if anyone is interested in another way , which would be everyone
Do testmating and you can see original breeding lines as per pre testing new way
This includes single selection also once testmating is up , for anyone with tablets or phones

Your a good man tony and we all appreciate what you have done in the past
At the very worst even as just a trial , your seeing how good your original was

Personally I think Facebook or personal accounts is the place for this new look or even grv for final or official info

I like facts and figures on this elite site , not sifting through pics at home or being bombarded by ads on 1/4 of every page on site ,sorry

Cheers

What I was doing was leaving feedback on the correct thread not creating my own little knickers in a knot one having a whinge about something that doesn't belong to me. 55% of the time on this site is on my phone and that's why I let Tony know. Take a chill pill and let them iron out the issues so what if they want to increase advertising and get more financial return for all the hard work.

In the end these will be two separate pages and you never have to go to the new page if you don't want to is the way I understand it.

The only way to get something to work is to test it out and see what is good and what is bad.

I like that pictures can be put in the old forum and they show on the new one and I like the idea that it will be easier to follow a dogs career after racing.

Daniel, it was broken. The world has changed and being able to follow a dogs life history is now more important than ever.

Again, this is only a test. Things will revert back to normal. The world has not ended, all is good.

I have our I.T. guy working on setting up an additional search engine. One will take you to the website pages, the other will take you to the pedigree as before.

Thank you to all who gave us feedback, we will continue to implement the changes/fixes/improvements you have suggested.

It was good to find out just how much GD means to our members. The fact some were very passionate about the website even though they were disagreeing with us shows how much they care.

Tony is looking after all of you guys
If i owned Data i would be making you all pay a $150 Yearly Subscription fee

Just to use the testmatings part i would charge more for the full Data Package we now have for free ...

Then you can all moan and groan but guess what is your alternatives you have nothing but a pen and paper and some old stud dogs for research like it was back in the day ..

I think its a nice touch & a fantastic addition.

Don't know why most are getting their nickers in a knot. Tony has stated on numerous occasions that this is just a test....So why not be constructive & add some positive ideas while you've got the chance.

On that note, I've now noticed there's 2 boxes in the right-hand-top-corner. Why not just keep it the way it was before with just 1 box & then add the "Website" on the page of the pedigree your going to look at.

For example go to the "Box" in the right-hand-corner & type in the dog you want to look at.

Once the pedigree has opened, no change except for the noticable "WEBSITE" button which you could place under the following on the left-hand-side.

date of birth
land of birth
land of standing
breeder
racing owner
### WEBSITE ###

By doing this, it will eliminate the typing of the dogs name "TWICE", causing more clicks to that website....with less effort.

Well done.
