Greyhound-Data Irish Fighting Fund currently has a balance of 1770.79 euro.

Originally this was started to support owners, trainers and tracks facing hardship. We have help people in various situation which was no fault of their own.

In light of the recent RTE programme and the emphasis on welfare, with your permission we would like to use the balance of this money to support owners and trainers who are keeping retired dogs.

Any owner or trainer who needs assistance with their retired dogs please email [email protected] All correspondence will be confidential.

Hi Tony,
Just my personal opinion but maybe it would be better to donate the money to a specific charity/organisation that is already involved in the rehoming of greyhounds. This could make more impact than splitting it many ways and would probably be of benefit to more greyhounds. I don't have enough knowledge of the organisations in Ireland but I'm sure other members of the forum can advise.

Hi Chris, I understand your what you are saying but we decided to try to help owners and trainer with their retirement dogs as they do not have a facility to get donations and we know some people must be struggling. Also if we gave all to one charity/adoption group there would be a big problem deciding which one as all do a fantastic job.
