It's with sad news long time G-Data supporter Bernard J Duffy of Ballan, Victoria time was up a he is now in that big kennel in the sky. Bernard passed away last Monday 9th September in Hospital succumbing to heart failure due to recently found level 4 lung cancer witch Bernard had been suffering from the past month hence his non appearance on various forums on this site. We had been concerned about him but found it impossible to make contact. I got a call from his good friend Paul who shared ownership of Greyhounds with Bernard this Sunday afternoon and he asked me to let those friends of the late Bernard know his is no longer with us.

Funeral Details in Ballarat:

Sandro,
What sad news, his passing is our greatest loss.
Such a great man, who touched us all with his incite on living and
his dedication to the sport he loved.
Rest easy Bernard, as you join Bart, Tommy, John. Roy, and all each
early morning in the Starry Stable in the sky. R. I. P.

I'm absolutely shattered by that news.
A real gentleman who will be sadly missed by people in the horse racing and greyhound industry.
Deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
Thank you for keeping us informed Pete.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Bernard, in person. Just communicating with him you were instantly aware of a very Intelligent, Respectful and Private person.
His replies to questions on racing, Footy, Stock Investments etc would always be short, accurate and delivered with a respectful courtesy.

RIP Bernard you'll be missed by many

Didn't know Bernard at all nor did I ever even share a word, but after reading this notice I read a few of his posts in the talk section.
I admit it felt eerie, almost surreal.
From what I read there was no doubting his passion for the doggies and gee gees.

He seemed a real nice fella.

RIP Bernard.

This is so sad.
I never met Bernard, nor spoke with him. But he offered me a Banjo Boy straw which he won in the first AFL footy tipping comp here on G-Data.
I offered him a pup but he said he was just happy to help out a newcomer.
Genuine gentleman.

Rest in peace Bernard. I think all at GD are saddened by this news. Condolences to his close freinds and family.

Im wondering could we somehow honour the man with an annual tipping comp on here each spring that involved two of his loves greyhound and thoroughbred racing. The Bernard J Duffy Spring Tipster award would be a great way to remember a true GD legend.

Something like this:

Sat 12th Oct - Caulfield Guineas
Fri 18th Oct - Million Dollar Chase Wentworth Park
Sat 19 Oct - Caulfield Cup
- Randwick The Everest

Sat Nov 2 - Flemington VRC Derby
- Rosehill Golden Eagle
Tues Nov 5 - Flemington Melbourne Cup
Thur Nov 7 - Flemington VRC Oaks
Sat Nov 9 - Flemington LKS Mackinnon Stakes
- Top Gun Sprinters The Meadows
- Top Gun Stayers The Meadows
Fri Nov 29 - Melbourne Cup Sandown Park
- Bold Trease Sandown Park

17 Races over 2 months covering Thoroughbreds and Greyhounds

Pts 5 3 1 basis plus STab W/P Div ie:
Horse/Dog wins 5pts + $4.20 1.80 = 11pts 2nd 3pts + $3.70 = 6.7pts halves for d/heats

Scratching you get the TAB Sub, Missed putting in tip Top weight
