At the end of May Greyhound-Data stated its first Goal:

"The setting up of the first Greyhound Welfare Kennels in Mainland China with the Greyhound Racing Club of China (GRCC) to support its members."

It gives me great pleasure to announce that today the first Greyhound Retirement Centre has now been opened in Mainland China.

Thank you to our Chairman Shan Wei, Dr. John Newell and Welfare Officer Dr. Tong Jingbin for all the hard work and organisation they have done to make the Retirement Centre a reality.

In addition to the Retirement Centre we have agreements in place with kennels located in the 4 main provinces that greyhounds are kept to act on our behalf to collect, care for and seek veterinary help for greyhounds that are in need of assistance.

Free Greyhound Update Service
Anyone who has ever sold a greyhound or had a greyhound they bred sent to Mainland China and would like to know what has happen to it the GRCC can help you.

Please email me [email protected] and my team will do its best to locate your greyhound and update you on where your dog is, who owns it and if the owner is a member of the GRCC we will even be able to provide photos and videos.

Adoption Groups Worldwide
We would like to invite all Greyhound Adoption Groups worldwide to work with us. If you are aware of any greyhound in Mainland China not being looked after properly or needing help please contact us immediately. It makes no sense to leave the dog in this situation while funds are being raised for your flights to China. The GRCC will try to move the dog to our Retirement Centre or to one of our Kennels throughout Mainland China as soon as possible and get the help the greyhound requires.

FACT - It is not illegal in mainland China for people to adopt greyhounds and keep them in their homes as pets.

FACT - The major majority of Chinese people have never eaten a dog.

Thank you for your continued support.

Thanks guys, we are moving forward rapidly at the moment. Our first 2 day workshop to help improve the knowledge of owners has already taken place and I will put up photos in the next few days.

Thanks again for your support.

Tony, thats brilliant. Would have loved to see our authorities lead the way and support some of these developing greyhound countries with similar work to what you are doing, instead of the ban and abandon approach.

Its fairly obvious that industry people need to stand up and make these things work as has happened with the 15 Aussie adoption dogs that recently flew to the US in an industry participant driven initiative. An idea that was mooted to our authorities some years ago but not enacted upon.
