Hi Tony

For a couple of weeks I have found GD to be very slow and many times not connecting showing Internal Error -500

Why is this happening?

Hi Sandro, We have had our I.T. guy trying to find out what is happening. His graphs suggest the problem is occurring in the forum due to large amounts of users coming on at the same time.

I know and I am sure all GD members know this is bullsh**t. In the past we had many more users in the forum and no problems. Yesterday we rebooted the server twice but it made no difference. We have now contacted our server provider for advice failing this throwing any light on the subject we will bring in a new I.T. to have a look with fresh eyes.

I can assure our members our current I.T. has been putting in long hours on this but the end result is nothing has changed.

I can understand everyone's frustration as I went through this last night when trying to close an auction at 10pm but got the same message you are getting.

I will let you guys know once something has changed and my apologies to all our members.

Could all members please assist us.

If you get a 500 server message of the site is extremely slow can you please post which part of GD you were looking at and exactly what occurred.

I realise if you are getting a 500 server message you will not be able to do this straight away.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Mick, it says not secure as new requirements mean we have to have a SSL Certificate. Due to the age of GD which was built on php 4.4 we are unable to load software which will enable us to put the SSL on GD as it is not compatible with php 4.4. We have been speaking to various php specialists to upgrading the entire website but the quotes have been well out of our reach. We now have someone looking at this but he has a full time job so it will take time. If GD had thousands it would be an easy fix but this simply is not the case. Without the support of our members we would have been gone years ago.

I get it when opening up the page at times, but mainly when I have to change from the opening web page, either to the Forum or to a pedigree or even just pressing the BACK button

Thanks for the feedback our I.T. are following this thread and have already found a couple of small things which have now be blocked.

Rod it has to be the same for all but to date no one in Europe has mention it except for Werner and Pamela. I think so many think it is their internet.

Thanks Daryl, we received some instruction from the company looking after our servers today and our I.T. are following this up. Hopefully we are not to far off.

Tony,

Getting on G-D today probably took 20 to 30 seconds. This was the first page I wanted to look at and it probably took 25 seconds to see this page.

I haven't seen the 500 error message in over a month.

Edited to add it took 45 seconds from the time I hit reply to the time my post got posted. When I hit edit to write this it took almost 30 seconds to get to write this.

I had given up entering pedigrees, tried again this morning (9 a.m. CDT, US). It took me 5 minutes to enter one dog, then I got the "500" error when I tried to add his littermate.

I would rather shelter in place, entering pedigrees, than cleaning the house! You leave me no choice! :-)

Hi Tony

I've been getting the 500 message for the last few days. I assumed it's because everyone is now working from home and the kids are not at school so there's just too much traffic. I'm no expert but our internet provider has posted this message

'Also please understand that our network is currently under an unusual amount of strain due to the amount of families at home. We would appreciate if you could keep heavy internet usage such as IPTV, Netflix, game downloading to a minimum during working hours to assist people working from home. Thank you for your cooperation during this difficult period'
