Big numbers coming out of Victoria now.
Is it time to close the border to Victoria ? And if so, what would happen to the upcoming group race series at Wentworth Park? Its a real possibility that Victorians will be back in lockdown again in the next fortnight...so a scenario could arise where dogs make the final of these group races & their trainers may not be allowed to handle them on track?

Looks like AFL has some serious issues to address also with Qld health bringing in 14 day isolation periods for teams playing Victorians

Unfortunately this scenario has come to fruition via the border closures.

Whats happening with Victorian trainers? Will they have to send dogs up to nsw trainers?

Some interesting facts from the Federal Govt's own website

As of Monday (6-7-2020)
There are FIVE (yes only 5 in the entire country) in ICU with Corona Virus

AND, there are 34 active cases in hospitals (in the entire country)

All five are in Victoria, 31 of the 34 are in Victoria

WHY IS THE REST OF THIS COUNTRY SHUT DOWN?
Why is any of this country shut down

In 2019 some 3100 Australians died of pneumonia ... the country was NOT shut down. The borders were not locked down, the shops were ALL open, business was NOT restricted. The economy was NOT sent into turmoil and recession. Crowds attended footy, racing, movies ... whatever they wanted

The total number of tests conducted in Australia for Covid 19 is 2.76 million.
Of those tested, only 0.3% of those have been positive.

Second Wave?????

We didn't even have a FIRST WAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for posting this David. I totally agree with you.

95% of all cases suffer mild symptoms, no worse than a flu.

There have never been any other cause of death, where the numbers have been reported on every news bulletin.
160,000 Australians die every year.

This has been a fear mongering campaign and it has destroyed thousands of businesses, for no good reason.

How anyone can put any trust in science is beyond me.
They continually and systematically get everything wrong. (Hello climate change......its FREEZING here...)

They tell us to trust the experts. Serious?

God help us when the next virus comes, if we show this kind of panic over a flu.

Youll have to speak with doctors and nurses on the front line Jamie & David. They say its like no other virus theyve encountered.
OR maybe speak with the Italian medical staff, the US medical staff, the British medical staff.
The question is...greyhound related. What is the protocol for Wentworth park this week with 2 group 1 races and Victorian participants

I have spoken to 'frontline' staff Glenn.
They can only talk about the less than 1% of cases that get to hospital. And more than 90% of them have multiple illnesses.

I'm not saying the virus doesn't exist, I'm saying it's just a flu. Thousands die of flu every year, we just don't shut down the worlds economy because of it.

Not sure about Melbourne trainers, but I can't see Wuhan Dan letting anyone drive anywhere for 6 weeks.

Ill have to disagree with you on that one Jamie.

But I found out off grnsw website, all Victorian trainers are already in nsw so their dogs can run. Good news for connections

The Centre For Evidence Based Medicine at Oxford University says:
Professor Walter Ricciardi, Scientific Adviser to Italys Minister of Health, reports: On re-evaluation by the National Institute of Health, only 12 per cent of death certificates have shown a direct causality from coronavirus, while 88% patients who have died have at least one pre-morbidity many had two or three.
Recording the numbers of those who die with Coronavirus will inflate the CFR as opposed to those that died from Coronavirus, which will deflate the CFR.
The most common problems in those who died were: 76% high blood pressure; 36% diabetes, and 33% ischemic heart disease.
The average age of deceased and COVID-19 positive patients in Italy was 79.5 years."

THUS, of Italy's 29,684 deaths statistically reported to be from Coronavirus ... the FACTS (according to Italy's Minister Of Health's Scientific Advisor) should put the Coronavirus death toll in Italy at 3562 (on May 7). Italy averages around 8000 deaths every year from normal Flu.
The same Oxford University stats show Belgium is the worst country in the world for Coronavirus deaths.
The United States comes in at Number 21.

Will have to agree to disagree with you David.

Anyhow, back to the greyhounds...Im glad the big races at Wenty wont be affected, but Im sure there will be protocols in place to keep all trainers safe from spread of covid 19.

Im hoping Ebby Jet Power can get up for Michael, a good guy who has a great line with the Ebbys

There's no point debating the COVID-19 as nobody knows the exact reasons why or what it can or can't do.

Until a vaccine can be found, what can we do?

Is it better to be safe than sorry...or let the economy suffer?

I suppose the answer to that question could depend on what age you are & where you live.

If you're young, you're invincible. If you're old & you live in the country, that's a big tick but if you live in the big smoke...be safe.

I'll have to agree to disagree too, sorry David and Quinny.

From a layman's POV, the above figures give me no comfort at all.
Considering the 8,000 dead pa from the flu, would the 29,000 odd deaths have happened without the covid?
Would the common flu cause death to those with the morbidities?
If the flu caused deaths before with these prior conditions, the figures should have been where the covid related 29,000 are.

The flu is well understood, covid isn't.

Covid is much more contagious that the flu.

Covid concentrates on the respiratory system with devastating consequences.

Ask the people of Brazil if they've ever dug as many graves as they are now.
Ask them what they think of their leader, especially the numerous people who have lost love ones.
Try to explain to them that it's "just a flu".

My view...the ptb are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
They've saved lives but ruined the economy.
I guess they made the choice based on "The economy can eventually recover, dead bodies don't".
Let's all hope for a vaccine real quick and both can get on with living.

If a lunatic asked me if I had any of the above morbidities, I said NO, then offered me a million if I walked into a room full of billions of billions of covid droplets, just to test their theory, well, my answer wouldn't be very polite.

Here's hoping for a vaccine.

200% agree Steve.

I find it interesting that some people feel it absolutely necessary to champion some human rights causes but totally disregard the situation that COVID-19 puts the elderly & immune compromised in when the rules of social distancing, hygiene etiquette etc are not obeyed.

Anyhow, good luck to all participants this Saturday at Wenty park. And stay safe.

Yes, Glen. We need to look after those who built this country, something that's obviously lacking in some of the younger generations. It all starts at the home.

As most know, I've been running a shop now for nearly 20 years. In that time you really get to know your customers & they get to know you.
Over the last 3 months during conversations in the shop, I'm amazed at how open some people are in regards to RIPPING this country off, through the generous offerings of this Government.

Bookkeeper & Jobkeeper are designed to keep the country rotating but some are abusing this right because they are getting paid (possibly, even more every week) to say at home. Basically refusing to work while they can.

Dole bludgers are on bonus pay too so plenty of crackheads walking the streets. It's party time in their eyes. I had to ambush one a couple of weeks ago in my shop.

The September dead-line for Job & Book-keeper will be very interesting times.

Lock your doors.

Notice how the word deaths has now been replaced by cases to ramp the media based fear campaign? If someone that downloaded the tracking app of the beast gets a runny nose and they've contacted 10 others are they all being labelled a case?

The app only comes into play when someone has tested positive and has been in the same space as them for 15 mins or longer.

Generous offerings alright. The Federal Gov't panicked and started handing out tax payers monies like there was no tomorrow. Whatever it takes! The Bush Fire victims are still waiting, but this Gov't is about jobs, jobs and more jobs. What a joke !

If VIC trainers are coming to NSW from `hot spots' well I say, `No, no, no."
