Another fine mess for DJ and Co to sort out.

Greyhound Derby Winning trainer caught by the short and curlies at Cashel Coursing Club main event in October this year, the trainers dog and bitch were both tested in a Derby Trial Stake and an Oaks Trial Stake both animals failed the test for a banned substance used by the Russian athletes both runners up have been informed by the ICC that they will be taking their place at Clonmel but not the winners of the stake, the samples were sent over to Newmarket for analysis and returned positive, good job the limerick lab had no part to play in the testing or the cheat would be on his way to Clonmel , Samples from the coursing are back very quick from Newmarket thus making the efforts from the IGB laboratory look more ridicules than we first thought this also proves that Professor Morris was spot on with his assumptions of the limerick laboratory being not fit for purpose another reason for it to be closed down. Time for the CEO of the IGB to start doing her job or consider joining her friend JMO.

Lads I'm not posting to have an argument wit any of ye I just think that this is bad publicity for the sport and I see it doin equally as much damage to our sport as the drugs issue...this needs to be delt with in a different manner rather than splashing it across multi media if yer in it for the smaller man at least leave him wit an industry cause what yer doin is going to turn future sponsors ect away that's all...

There wont be an industry if this is allowed to continue, The board are responsible for the running of our industry and to make sure it is run free of drugs, the IGB are not capable of running any business straight and the buck stops with the chairman.

The latest publication from the control committee where they fined a woman 2000 for using Benzoylecgonine, more to this case than meets the eye.

How Long Does Cocaine Stay in Your System? Benzoylecgonine Drug Detection Test

Cocaine stays in your system for 12-72 hours depending on the dose. But its metabolite takes much longer to get eliminated.

Benzoylecgonine is the main metabolite of cocaine, which is used in drug screening test. Many factors determine how quickly it gets cleared from the body.

It is also used medically as a topical analgesic and muscle relaxant, as in prescription drug Esterom, which is used for myalgia.

When a person takes cocaine (chemically benzoylmethylecgonine), it gets metabolized in the liver to form benzoylecgonine. The metabolite is then excreted out of the body via urine.

The presence of this metabolite is almost a certain indication that a person has consumed the drug.

Should have banned her for life and make others think twice.

Id have the whole industry cleaned up in ONE WEEK if I was in charge.

ALL TESTS TRACK & FIELD TO BE SENT TO NEWMARKET.

STOP IGB & ICC FROM EVER TAKING A SAMPLE EVER AGAIN.

IF WE HAVE TO TAKE A % FROM BUDGET TO PAY FOR THIS.

WOULD CLEAN UP RACING,HELP BETTING AND OVERALL EVERYTHING.

ITS now been proven FOR YEARS that the CEO of IGB & ICC need to go NOW

Joe, When Head of Governance & Compliance comes out with a statement and says that the equipment used in the limerick laboratory is OLD and cant detect the levels required unlike the machine used in Newmarket it says it all, our CEO claims that the IGB can test for Stanazolol and they have a positive sample for Stanazolol, why has it never been published? The limerick lab cannot test for stanazolol or many other drugs either that's why this game is rife with drugs, Some elements are now saying to drop the rant on drugs and concentrate working with the board instead of fighting with them, those clowns must be on drugs themselves to come out with such ridicules comments, unless this board go our sport will go simple as.

The board isn't going any where and that's just that simple as Dave I'm not picking an argument but really is the drug situation as bad as your making it out to be out of all the owners trainers ect what percent is using drugs can you please answer this question...at the last meeting in horse and jockey it came up the biggest problem the sport is facing is infact money the industry is broke and some of this reason is because the product is not been marketed correctly now...so yes I agree the board is not doin its job to its full potential but the idea of getting rid of the board is just a fairy tail its not going to happen...pascal taggart came up wit some very good ideas but I'm afraid they all fell on deaf ears...cleaning up the sport is needed yes but for its survival I would most definatly have a few issues that need to be addressed in front of the drugs issues...what's happened in the industry in the past with guys getting away and so on needs to be left in the past the game needs to move forward a total separate body needs to take over the testing system...what do you think this topic is achieving...is it cleaning up the sport is it bad publicity is it painting a bad picture of the sport when only a small percent of trainers owners ect have committed drug offences...you tell me...again I'm not having a go at you I'm just saying it as I see it,

B I don't wish to fall out or make enemies with anyone either but we have to ask ourselves why has our industry fallen to its knees?
My opinion is we have failed political appointees who know nothing about running any kind of business what so ever, we have absolutely no marketing strategy in place which should be there to help you sell your pups and market your stud dogs, there is nothing of its kind in place, there is no advertising of any kind to entice family's or individuals to attend greyhound racing [marketing] We have tracks sitting empty from one meeting to the next when they could be bringing in badly needed revenue [marketing] B if you owned a shop and your customers slowly disappeared revenue dried up you would have to try get them back some way, flyers special offers and promotions to get your revenue back up and on track to survive when have we ever seen this from the IGB? The IGB are broke due to bad management and top heavy in staff earning big money for doing little as possible [taxpayers money], People are leaving the sport because of high costs applied by those who have fleeced the sport for their own gain taking what they can of tax payers money, I cant tell you what percentage of people are using drugs but believe me it is much more than just a small minority, The people using drugs on their animals are not just destroying the game they are destroying breeding through and through top bitches and stud dogs producing rubbish people paying big money for pups from big named bitches and dogs and being left with nothing this is what has the industry destroyed, again this is only my opinion and if people cant accept that a very small minority are actually working to save what little is left of our sport and hopefully one day might just help keep those very people [criticisers] in the game then we have very little chance of survival IMO.

PS; B If you had a manager running you business and you saw your business going down hill fast would you keep him or get someone else in to run it?

Dave thank you for your response respect...I hate to see all the bad publicity about the sport when their is so many good people in the sport we seem to forget about all the good we have and concentrate on all the bad...a lot of tracks are now gone to 1 day a week it a discrace the way the game is been run were paying into it like its a professional sport and been paid out pittens ICC have us robbed they only sponsor 1 stake a year and its all funding the coursing an IRC/Irish racing club should be formed were we the track men see the benefits but look their is much we can do but who's gonna do it every meeting iv went to its always the same everyone arguing and nothing been done...

Lads the sport needs a separate anti doping agency like WADA to take control of testing and that will sort out everything drugs related...forget about Limerick labs ect to many people know to many people...
