Publishing this nonsense is driving more people away from the game and rubbing our faces in it IMO, there should be nothing published about this dog or his trainer until such time as his court case has been heard and the final outcome has been published by the IGB IMHO.

A greyhound under investigation after traces of cocaine were found in his system on three separate occasions earlier this year completed a classic hat-trick over the weekend by landing the 2017 Kerry Agribusiness Irish St Leger at Limerick.

Is it because there is no dogs or is it because people are sick of racing against Drug cheats, I would have to say both, The cost incurred by owners now has gone passed being ridicules and it is not viable for the small dog man/woman to stay going, on top of that they have little or no chance of winning any big races or any substantial prize money due to the cheats that are in this game, the cheats have this game Destroyed and to inflict more hardship onto the small dog man/woman the cheats have been caressed by the so called people in charge, the writing is already on the wall, never mind the board are doing a mighty Job????

The greyhound legislation is to come before these Houses. However, existing legislation is not even being adhered to by the governing authority, which is in receipt of almost 300,000 of taxpayers' money each week. It will not even listen to the breeders and owners. This industry is in decline and the issue is going to explode. It is one of our traditional industries. The greyhound is the poor man's racehorse. The situation is absolutely unacceptable. I urge the Leader to ask the Minister of State, Deputy Doyle, to come to the House to listen to the serious allegations that will be brought before him and to answer some of them and provide some clarity as to why the Government is allowing this situation to continue.

What has Minister Doyle done to help our industry since he took office? NOTHING

I express my support for the small trainers. They are greyhound men and women and genuine people. Never in their lives would they engage in activity such as mistreating their animals, drugging dogs or engaging in any of that nonsense. They are respectable people whom I admire. I go to the greyhound track in Tralee. A person could not go to a better place on a Friday or a Saturday night. It is a great fund-raiser. Local community groups, schools and GAA clubs use the facilities where people come together. It is a great place for young people and children to go to because it is safe and they enjoy it. It is a great community activity. However, I cannot get my head around how it is acceptable for a person who drugs a dog and has that unfair advantage to run that dog again. We all know that the dog is innocent and does not take the drugs. However, if it tests positive a week or two or three weeks later, how can the person in question run it again? It is the person who is wrong.

I fully support the greyhound industry. I am behind every person involved in it. For the small greyhound breeders and those who love a little win now and then, it balances their books a little if they receive some prize money. For God's sake, tackle the unfair advantage which I describe as the criminal element. Anyone who drugs a dog is engaging in a criminal act.

Minister Doyle has been getting it from all angles regarding the use of drugs in our sport but has failed the ordinary greyhound man/woman to stay involved in this sport due to the uneven playing field we have to share with the drug cheats, if he continues to stand idle he will have a huge problem on his hands before to long IMHO.

Holland was out of the country and unavailable for comment. On his kennels website, he addressed the positive findings, saying he had been picked on for drug testing at Shelbourne Park and that he knew of one well-known trainer with seven positives pending, and another has nine, though nothing has been made public

March 2018 and nothing has ever been published regarding the above statement, is this false information or is it a case of our Regulation Department has forgotten to deal with them???, we dont want false information to be read out on the 20th March and we certainly dont want the board to forget important material relevant to the case, saying that dont hold your breath for this High Court Case to go ahead on the 20th March as its been reported that a Mercedes car has been seen traveling from the kilkenny area to Golden so many times that a track has been formed in the road leading to Golden, AH sure they might well be claiming expenses for new tyres and Juice.

A Dog that tested positive 3 times for Cocaine has been selected as one of 3 dogs for an award??????? where will it all end?

These are the people who voted a dog with 3 positive COCAINE results deserves a nomination for DOG OF THE YEAR.

The selection panel comprised of ten people comprising journalists and greyhound industry folk: Tom Aherne, Paul Cooney, Ian Fortune, Michael Fortune, D.J. Histon, Tommy Lyons, Tony Mulvey, Sarina ODay, Declan ODonoghue and Paddy Ryan.

NOT a very greyhound folk thing to do in my opinion.

Clonbrien Hero has been shortlisted alongside Derby winner, Good News, and Jaytee Yankee, for the prestigious Dog of the Year title at the Irish Greyhound Boards Annual Awards 2017.

It comes despite an ongoing disciplinary hearing process in relation to its failed drug tests.

The nominations are made by secret ballot of an independent 10-person panel of industry representatives.

It emerged last September that Clonbrien Hero had failed three drugs tests for benzoylecgonine, the main metabolite of cocaine, on June 24, July 1, and July 22, following testing at Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium in Cork. The July 22 test took place after the dog won the Laurels.

The adverse analytical findings were referred to the Control Committee, which is independent of the IGB.
The dog was disqualified from racing and 30,000 prize money is being withheld pending the conclusion of the Control Committees disciplinary hearing A sample taken from the dog later tested negative, clearing it to return to racing. It went on to win the 2017 Irish St Leger on November 4, scooping 25,000.

However, solicitors acting on behalf of the dogs trainer secured a temporary High Court order before Christmas preventing a disciplinary hearing from proceeding. The process has yet to be concluded.

The IGB said no assumptions should be made until the Control Committees investigation is concluded.

No assumptions should be made beyond the status of an adverse analytical finding, a spokesman said.

In accordance with regulations, any greyhound that returns an adverse finding is immediately disqualified from further racing or trialling until a further sample returns free from prohibited substances.
This has been followed for every greyhound since 2015.

There was never any announcement from the IGB or its Regulation department stating that Clonbrien Hero had been disqualified from racing, there was never any announcement that Clonbrien Hero had given a negative sample and was entitled to race on, this has become a very serious matter for Head of Regulation and this Department must be held accountable for their incompetence and lack of vision to deal with a trainer and 3 positive samples for Cocaine, if the IGB happen to loose this court case it should spell the end of the road for someone IMHO.

It clearly states in the rule book that the trainer is responsible for his dogs at all times, no point blaming other people for patting the dogs head while they have coke on their hands that wont be absorbed by any judge, hopefully it will all come out in the wash.

This has now gone beyond a joke, the IGB have secured another adjournment until the 13th July, the case will have to be heard on this date as they cannot adjourn again, clearly they do not have their documents in order, a complete disgrace at this stage.
