I really haven't heard too many knocks on Manny as a sire here in the US. It's hard to argue with his record of top quality production versus his opportunities. Interesting to you folks might be the presence of Minaki Zeke as his damsire. Zeke was an absolutely tenacious chaser, and tended to throw that characteristic, as well as brilliance and pace. He is one of the more overlooked and undervalued contributors to some high quality American pedigrees, imo.

Manny was a pure sprinter---by our standards (550-583 yards)---who raced with distinction at 5 different tracks, 4 of them top tier venues. He was all about pace and breakaway speed. He tends to throw quite an array of types, however, from blazing speedballs, to leather-lunged marathoners.
His pedigree is a bit unusual for an American dog, however, despite the inbreeding to She's A Natural, it seems that in some instances, adding even more of that works well enough. The female family just keeps throwing higher and higher class, and sire on top of sire. It's remarkable.

His damsire, Minaki Zeke, was another pacey sprinter, who would have run through a titanium wall, and who tended to throw that trait pretty reliably. It's a good balance to the Unruly influence, which tends to provide some staying capacity.

Of course I haven't handled any of Mannys pups, but I haven't heard too much negativity at all about them. A look at his top offspring is pretty impressive and revealing.

Manny has thrown an array of aptitudes, from speedballs to marathoners.

The Flying Penske line is alive and well. Better yet, its thriving. Same can be said of the Kiowa Sweet Trey family.
Thing is, more often than not, both are doing extremely well when working in harmony, in the same pedigree.
The last two months underscored all these truths. In three of the four pedigrees highlighted, it happened to be with Penske on top, two of those in tandem with Sweet Trey bitches.
Two of those three Penske appearances were through his hot son, Kiowa Mon Manny.
Moreover, in three of the four examples here, the dams dam line goes back to Molotov.
SH Avatar, owned by Tom Sugihara, Jr. and Bob Hardison, is the first of the Kiowa Mon Manny offspring highlighted herefrom Mannys mating with Tom S Caterwaul. The brindle male, whelped May 2010, captured the rich ($500,000) Bluffs Run Iowa Bred Classic in November.
Its been quite an 18 months for Mon Manny, rocketing up the sire standings thanks in part to the efforts of such big-name sons as 2011 All- America AMF Ex President and 2012 Southland phenom Bella Infrared. The Penske sons linebreeding (bordering on inbreeding when you consider the dam Shes A Natural is the anchor close up in both Mon Mannys parents2x3) has been well documented here beforenot forgetting the three Ks Flaks in his background (two behind the two BJs Justin appearances, and one behind Trouper Zeke) plus two Unrulys (remembering that both Unruly and Flak go back to the same Jones stock on top). This is intense, solid linebreeding at its very best.
Tom S Caterwaul is by Jawa Leonas Best (Gable Dodge line), out of the Molotov bitch Tom S Calypso. She gives Avatar his second entry of Trouper Zeke, while also doubling up Hall Of Famer dam Buzz Off (behind Bara Buzz and Mystic Rose). The heavy dosage of Ks Flak behind Mon Manny is further intensified, with two more Flaks behind Caterwaul (behind Zeke and ML Gator).
The other Kiowa Mon Manny hitting the paysheet in a big way the last two months has been Patriot Kennels Venus Espinosa, Derby Lanes current win leader and conqueror of the Fall Sprint Classic in late September. Venus is a dark fawn October 2009 son of Mon Manny and Sol Venus, bred by Jack Sherck and owned by Smith Greyhounds & Vincent Savill.
Heres where we get into that increasingly popular marriage of Penske-Sweet Trey blood, Sol Venus being by the Hall Of Famer Kiowa Sweet Trey and My Vienna (a Molotov dam). The Sweet Trey/ Molotov mix makes Sol Venus linebred to another Hall Of Fame, HBs Commander in the third generation (on top in both occasions) through sons Oswald Cobblepot and Molotov. Keep in mind that, by adding Cobblepot, youre getting another entry of Rooster Cogburn, who is already richly abundant behind Mon Manny, through the two appearances by Shes A Naturals dam, Fast N Loose. The tail dam line behind Venus Espinosa goes back to Tammys Mine, a daughter of Whizzer Ben and the Irish import Kyltammy*.
Our third spotlighted star is an actual daughter of Flying Penske Oshkosh Grace, whos been a tough one all season at Southland (runnerup in the Million), often running in Infrareds shadows, but now the winner of the Festival of Stakes Sprint Championship on Nov. 2 for the Thorne Kennel. Oshkosh Grace is a March 2010 black female, owned and bred by Larry Pollard of Oshkosh, Ne.
Once again, heres the Penske blood mixing with Kiowa Sweet Trey in exactly the same way we saw via Venus (Penske on top, through a Sweet Trey daughter). That daughter in this case is Oshkosh Hera, who is out of the Molotov dam Oshkosh Morsel. (Are we seeing a pattern yet with this Penske/Sweet Trey/ Molotov triangleand, oddly enough, very similarly bracketed?) That makes Hera (just as it made Sol Venus) linebred in the third via direct-male lines to HBs Commander.
Oshkosh Norma (Morsels dam) is pure Pollard-bred (Oshkosh Tease- Oshkosh Lovable) with both going back to the late Bill Pollards dam lines. Meanwhile, the sire lines are both Jones stock (Unruly and Kelly Jones on top), BJs Justin on the maternal side (thus doubling up Justin again, since hes also behind Penske). The PKs Jet/Unruly/Kelly Jones line behind Tease intensifies the Kelly already apparent behind Sweet Trey (via Sunburn and Dark Rumor).
Oshkosh Norma also happens to be tightly linebred to the great Pollard female Oshkosh Buffy (Teases damand also the dam of Oshkosh Leoti, who produce Oshkosh Jive, who was Oshkosh Lovables dam). Thus in the second and fourth generation, and both times in the very bottom line (a lot like Shes A Naturals role behind Kiowa Mon Manny). Oshkosh Jive, incidentally, was a sister to the great Pollard stake racer Oshkosh Juliet (Oshkosh Keeper-Oshkosh Leoti).

Endless amounts of good sires have faded because they havent had the top bitches. Good bitches make good sire statistics and good sires upgrade there bitches.
