Must be a different litter as the bitches only came home this weekend with them doing everything right but times were average. They were Feb whelped so still plenty of time. The dogs were taken to breakers when the bitches were picked up so will know more about them in four weeks time. They do chase well and are keen and times are only over the shorts which doesn't mean they aren't good and may improve over time and distance. Cheers.

Well done to connections and trainer Stephen Bartholomew on winning the Mt Gambier Cup

Galactic Athena now brings her record to 6 starts 4 1 1

Galactic Athena Ran down a very fast dog in sling shot hammer ..and also defeated a great field .

Stephen has done a fantastic job training this litter and they all look to have bright futures
Interesting that Spiral Nikkita Bitches are clicking with Paddy Whacker here in Australia .

Galactic Athena would have to be the greyhound with the most staying potential in Australia.Run homes are outstanding. Whole litter has ability. Unraced brother has broken 400m record in trial. dam produced ill-fated Galactic Panther to Milldean Panther. Perhaps she upgrades her matings. Waiting for a bite.

Ray it looks like the dam has upgraded the sire but i bet those Whackers were well reared and the level of fitness required to run those times now is a credit to the trainer ....

Breeding is a strange thing sometimes it takes that second generation of pups to hit the track as shown here considering this was the last litter Paddy bred in Australia .

The dam has shown she can throw a good one and sometimes it takes that Left of centre field sire to really make it shine .

Credit to the trainer he has done a remarkable job with such a young bitch regardless of the breeding i think we will see more to come from this litter .

PS
Ray Athena is by far the best bitch and this litter is by far the best litter Paddy has thrown in Australia .It takes two to tango but i agree the brood has clicked well with Paddy and she can throw a handy one thats for sure
The breeders have really taken a risk some would say but it shows that there decision was spot on so credit to those guys as well .

To get any litter to the track early is a credit to the way they were reared and handled as Pups .

Wagtail Kate also was a very fast bitch also with Spiral Nikkita in its Dam line .
It will be interesting to see how well Paddy Whacker bitches throw on...

Kev

She looks a real special bitch

Considering she ran down Slingshot Hammier in the Mt Gambier Cup in her 6th start and then he came out and ran 29.58 running 2nd to Miss Splendamiro in an Easter Egg heat speaks volumes about where she's heading

Nice to see Paddy get a good one

Sandro you are a bit of breeding purist ...
Why after so many litters do you get a good Litter and i am told the brother is as fast or faster who is yet to have a race start ..

Interesting as both Athena and Wagtail Kate both carried Spiral Nikita in there dams .

Interesting Athena has 4x5 of follow through as well as a Double of Spiral Nikita .

As you know Sandro...so many times a Sire's worth is valued long after they have gone ...

Paddy certainly did not impress on his early litters Sandro so it will be interesting to see what pans out ...I have only a handful of vials left now but it will be exciting to watch his progeny carry on ....

The way Athena runs the bends reminds me of the way Paddy used to race ...

Kev

It isnt an easy question to answer and 10 people can give oyu 10 different answers

The way I look at it is there unfortunately just aren't enough quality pups on the ground by him where you could form a picture on how his bloodlines are nicking to bitch breeding pool in this country

However, you may have hit the nail on the head with the double of Spiral Nikita being shown up in this mating

Galactic Athena's dam's first litter was by Millldean Panther which had a fairly decent pup in Galway Panther. Milldean Panther has a cross of Spiral nikita and his sister Minnies Surprise, so Galway Panther had virtually 3 crosses of Spiral Nikita blood.

There are certain sires where a double of Spiral Nikita has proven to be a source of out performance

e.g. Oaks Road via Perth Cup winner I'm A Wagtail who coincidentally is also the dam of Wagtail Kate

college Causeway has produced Milldean Panther but also produced an SA Derby winner in Australia called Fever Pitch who is out of a Spiral Nikita bitch

So there is certainly an argument for bitches carrying Spiral nikita blood to outperform with Paddy Whacker, not sure of the X & Y positioning, that's Ryan's forte

Galactic Athena is out of a Cosmic Rumble but I would like to see his remaining vials go bitches by Oaks Road, Magic Sprite or Talks Cheap as they also bring in the hard chasing Leprechaun Yap line into the pedigree

With Paddy being so closely related to SH Avatar I gues sit was a matter of time before he produced something out of the box, a little late for his overall stud career, but good to see nonetheless and I am sure Doug would also be chuffed at this pup's ability

Had our bitch Bungaloo Lucy implanted two days before Athena won the Mount cup. Hoping they may be half as good as Athena's litter. They won't have to do a lot to be better than their mother.

Yes Kevin, I have been aware of Kate for quite some time. In fact when Athena's breeder was talking about using Paddy I suggested he look her up.
