They could speed up the "generational change" and restrict the age of the breeder to say between 25 and 35, that will take care of the old thinking amongst breeders.

Trevor it's the New Age Guys that have created this bloody problem what are you going to do with Wheeler retire him god the man hasn't even done his Autobiograghy
The old breeder has patience as a rule and plenty of it he has the time to sit and wait for the 1st litter to be educated and he has the nouse to make that decision to breed again or call it quits when they are educated. You guys make me laugh if you breed a litter and they are no good youll have another one from the bitch on the ground 'ready to go thru the same pain as the 1st litter look here's my theory
IF A BITCH THROWS VERY LITTLE IN THE 1ST LITTER BIG POSSIBILITY IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN IN THE 2ND and yes I know there are instances that prove me wrong but I am too old to change ...you young guys aren't

Mans best friend isn't a horse so comparing us too the other racing codes isn't worth wasting energy there failures get put back into the food chain for people dogs.Mans best friend, kill mans best friend and be seen to be making money out of it and of course theres going to be trouble. We need to clean up quick and moaning aint going to help.We have been let down badly by our leaders both peers and authorities. It was wall street in the 80's and people thought it was good well greed aint good.Sit back for one minute and look who has benefited the most from this industry but is the quietest.

James, it's the elephant in the room no one wants to talk about.

Who re-homes dogs and who doesn't.

John what that songs got to do with this topic im confused but worth a laugh I guess,as for giving a bitch a second litter after a disappointing first depends if you learnt from the first mistake.I used Collision on a mint bitch who had a very disappointing litter to the The bomb and there was 20 lengths differents in ability. What I learnt on that was that line likes the intense breeding that comes from sires like brother fox and new tears.Mick im not going to make people feel bad about there lack of re-homing but I will just say if we all don't pick up[ our game it will be the end of this sport.DONT BREED if you have no post race strategy.

After spending well over an hour racing around planning and information gathering, I have now just found myself having a rather detailed, "philosophical debate" with a Staff member from GRNSW.

As I explained - while I accept she was only "relaying the rules" - I left her / them in no doubt as to my position on the matter, and furthermore what I considered my / our "rights" to be.

Depending on the "outcome" of my "request" to them, I may elaborate further ... However, suffice to say for now that I made it very clear that "time was of the essence" (bitch is now on season, day 2), AND that I was perfectly happy to take the matter further if there was any attempt to restrict us breeding with the (now) brood in question. I have no intentions of letting "bureaucracy" be an impediment to our breeding aspirations.

What I found perhaps most interesting was that their "argument" sometimes varied according to the stance that best suits "their" position.

Ps: The bitch in question is 4 years of age, not previously been bred with, and a multiple City winner. If their "aims" are to (a) Seek to reduce euthanasia rates; and (b) improve the quality of resultant "stock" - using their OWN 'arguments' - wouldn't you think that this bitch "should" be not only be allowed to be bred with, but dare I say, we should be 'encouraged' to do so? (Nb, I hasten to add that it is my personal opinion that ANY registered Greyhound bitch should be permitted to be bred with; the only proviso being that they are considered to be in sound general and reproductive health).

PPS: I will add that I was told - and I quote - that "No Vet in Nsw would implant the bitch unless they confirm they have a current 'Pink' breeding card" .... Do others find it "intriguing" that the (Nsw) Authority thinks they have jurisdiction over Vets in their State?

8 days later & as of 7.27am yesterday - in a victory for COMMON SENSE - I have received an email confirming that we now have the "permission" from GrNsw to proceed.

Now to hope Mother Nature cooperates similarly, and the 8 days delay doesn't come back to haunt us! :-)

This is the type of litter that keeps backyard breeders hopes alive. She was only a handy race bitch, but wow what a fantastic second litter.

If only all broods screamed out a sire as obvious as Fernando Bale as this one.

Fernando over EGS, over Surf Lorian, even Just The Best. Throw in 4x5 Primo Uno. And youd be sitting there watching the litter grow up, somewhat excited by the pedigree, thinking you were a huge chance of getting something good - Lochinvar Lona, Connections, Hardaway Ranger, Lauries Flyer, Fernando Bluey, Sennachie etc.

Congrats to the breeder! Showed what you can do with an on point pedigree!!

I'm certainly no expert, but Fernando Bale clicks brilliantly with bitches containing Primo Uno in their pedigree.
