I live in NSW and I buy a pup locally as an owner and pay a bond.

After the dog finishes racing.

I follow the rehome guidelines (assumming there are some) and after months of costs to me to cover food/shelter (with my trainer or rearers farm) I still can't rehome the dog due to him being unsuitable or GAP don't have room or no private home wants hims.

The dog is put down

Do I get my bond back or not ? Is there a black X next to my name ? does my license get taken away ?

If my dog is suitable and GAP or rescue groups don't have room. How long am I expected to hand onto the dog and cover his costs. In my last experience this cost far outweighed any bond ?

Alternatively if a rehome/rescue group take my dog, irrespective of them going onto rehome (no matter how long) do I get my bond back immediately or does this go towards the rehome groups costs to find him a home ?

I wouldn't be worried about the PUP BOND Anthony, as it won't happen.

It's just a SMOKE-SCREEN from the real issues that are about to happen in NSW...like TRACK CLOSURES.

Due to the LACK OF BREEDING, I'd be more concerned about which tracks are about to be closed.

Steve

It's a given tracks will close, that's to fall in line with breeding quotes and contracted TAB meetings.

My point is it costs more to prepare for rehoming/needles/de-sexing/transport than the bond so why bother.

But what must I do to be eligible for my refund ?

Totally understand your query on "Eligibility" Anthony & it's impossible to answer as it stands.

One thing I will say is, why would you even bother breeding if a puppy bond was introduced, as the incentive to do so will widen in costs in most cases and result in a loss.
