Wondering what people`s opinions are on weather Sprint bitches or Long distance bitches breed more successful pups? And Why. (Just wondering)

I agree with Frank. Stayers all day long.

Lunar Vacation broke 4 sprint track records, and was a very good dam.

I wouldn't have thought it would matter if they were sprinters or stayers. Though a lot more sprinters than staying running around.

Out of interest what do the Aussie guys regard as a sprinter or stayer? As I believe it may differ from the views of those in the UK/Ireland.
The example I gave of a sprinter Lunar Vacation, she broke track records over 260m(twice), 276m, and 258m. Stayers over here would generally be regarded as dogs best over 600m+.

I wont consider a bitch that couldnt run out a strong 500m.

I would much prefer a sprinter that chased than a stayer that went when it felt like it. if they could run 500m it is a bonus, but if they couldn't but had ability and chase it isn't a issue.

Im kind of the same way as you ian if a bitch cant run 500m what are her chances of throwing 500m dogs. People will throw probably 20 at me that did but so beit jmo.

Another approach is this
If you had 2 broods on offer in front of you that just finished race careers
One was a trec holder over 300/400 mtr and the other was a trec holder over 600 mtr
Who would you choose ?
No brainer isn't it !
It goes the same for 2 grade 5 broods
No one is saying 400 mtr broods can't throw
The question was sprinter or stayer ? Why ....
Coz with a strength brood you are unlimited to what sire you go !
You can inject speed or strength and come out with relatively the same result

This is the question or topic I find very interesting for debate
In broods you go to the strength trait and on averages you should come out even
Yet with stud dogs ?? In my opinion , every time ,or most times when a unique or strength runner is bought forward , I have found holes or dislikes in their own traits or their off spring !

I have always wondered why this theory , you could say gets reversed !
Bekim bale
Velocette
Flying Penske
Are proof of offspring that are generally hard to handle or unique individuals needing more time or care in many ways in comparison to your sprint studs such as Magic sprite ... Barcia bale.. collision etc

Current examples that I would like to ask would you use ?
Space star
Rippin Sam !

It's a fascinating topic
I personally would not use a stayer ! To many undesirables come with them , mentally and race traits !
Go figure ????
