Looking at the 2017 Top 50 sires from Ireland & England, Australia and the USA I was amazed to find SH Avatar is the only stud dog to appear in all three lists. In actual fact he is in the top 30 in all 3 lists and perhaps most remarkable about this is the fact he has only 604 offspring!

I am probably going to show my ignorance a little here but I had not really come across this dog before and yet his figures are simply out of this world.

If you sort by the Top/Runner column which I personally take great note of as I feel this is the best indicator of a sires true throwing ability SH Avatar is top in the UK and the USA with incredible 35% and 34% respectively.

How come nobody seems to be using this fella or talking about him?

Mark i could not agree more his figures are out of this world and of course most of his 604 offspring have not even hit the track yet!

**The below is from Geoff Collins posted 28th April 2018 under the 'World Class Sires' heading on this forum**

SH Avatar has been Americas busiest sire over the last 6 months with 63 matings listed in the last 2 NGA Reviews. Djays Octane was next attracting 43 matings then followed Pat C Clement with 35 .. Superior Panama 34 .. Flying Fired Up with 26 Lonesome Cry 20 and Barcelona Boss with 18
One of Avatars pups attracted the top price at last weeks Nationals Auction with TNT NITTY GRITTY being the only dog to top the $30k mark, selling for $32,500. He recorded 30.01 in his heat, the fastest time over the 4 day series .. and backed up 3 days later to win his final in a solid 30.14

In Australia, his outstanding staying daughter EBBY RIPPER took her stakes earnings to $218,000 with victory in the Gr 3 Wentworth Park Gold Cup over 720m. Ripper holds the staying track records at The Gardens (41.70) and Bathurst (40.86) and recorded 42.15 in her Gold Cup victory.

Avatar has only 13 litters over 2yo in Australia and as well as Ebby Ripper he has produced quality performers including ..
*MATT MACHINE - Finalist Melbourne Cup & Maturity
*SUFFRAGETTE - Launching Pad winner
*DAITHY ALLEN - 3rd Nat Futurity
*MIDNIGHT HERO - 25.40 Gee; 29.52 SP; 23.68 Ben
*EBBY CHANCE -30.40 Rich; 29.43 Gosford
*UTAH MISS - Finalist Rich Oaks & Bathurst Gold Cup
*ALLEN HADRIAN

And to cap off a sensational period for Avatar .. this time in Ireland last week his outstanding daughter CABRA ANGEL raced to victory in the prestigious Limerick Oaks running away to win by 4 lens in 28.49 as the 5/4 favourite. She went undefeated throughout the series and took her record to 8 wins and 5 placings from 16 starts. CABRA ANGEL finished 3rd in last years Irish Oaks final behind Forest Natalee as a 5/2 equal fav

I used him with Mrs.Duncan & the vet killed her & her pups by not having the oxygen
tube plugged in to the machine & cutting off her oxygen supply at the beginning of a caesar.I noticed the diaphragm was not expanding but by the time the nurse found the unattached tube & plugged it in the bitch & all the pups were dead.
He gave her adrennilen in the heart etc but to no avail.
A very sad & expensive day.

What vet? that's unforgivable. It would have been a sad day, but the only person it should have been expensive for was the vet. That said there are 2 vets in Sydney that I have sacked because they were useless.

I have just looked through the top sires for 2018 (i know we are only in June!) to see how SH Avatar is doing this year.

Once again the only sire in the top 30 in all three lists UK/Ireland, Australia and USA at 29th, 23rd and 4th respectively.

Out of his 103 runners to date in UK/Ireland and Australia 31 already have rating of 100+. Plus of course he tends to throw staying types so obviously those figures will increase significantly has his pups age.

I have purchase a KC and All X Sweet it is bitch for breeding only as she injured her back as a puppy. Beautiful 30kg bitch. I wonder what people thoughts on using SH Avatar with her. Do you think too much imported blood. Cheers

Ben,
Best of luck with these pups. I know Avatars bloodline very well, I whelped his mom, and had a all American record breaker from his moms sister. True grit in this bloodline. I never raised a litter with more prey drive. These were Canadian born and raised. One thing I would keep in mind the bloodline is built with both speed and power. Tailoring it to the right female, and tracks you intend to run are very important I believe. I have watched from afar, and think too many times American bloodlines, are given up on early as they don't get broke in properly or started on the right kind of track. Avatar has helped put the number one bitch in the USA , as the top producer for 2017, and looking good for 2018, MONEY MAID. I too, whelped , raised and trained her. I was going to breed her to my dog Paddy Whacker, and believe would have had great results as well. The females from both these males should not be overlooked as producers IMO. I will be watching for your pups , and wish you the best of luck with them. Nice breeding !!

His stats this year haven't been too flash here in Oz.

371 starts for 45 wins at 12% (overall starts)which is ok, solid but nothing flash.

and 99 starters in the city for 8 wins at 8% strike rate.

Last year he had a solid year with 15%+ for city and provincial racing which is very nice.

I was tossing him up as an option for my girl farce allen, who is a daughter of Quiz Bale, who produced Daithy Allen to Sh Avatar, but his stats haven't really set the world on fire lately

Looking at his IE/UK litters he has 9 racing with 57 raced runners.

Of the nine broods four (44.44%) have produced 7 (12.28%) dogs between them with Disqualified or Awkward against their race comments.

The four broods were by Top Honcho, Iso Octane, Vans Escalade and Where's Pedro.

He certainly can throw fast animals to certain lines but I think it would be worth waiting before passing judgement.

Thanks Doug Riches
I am extremely happy with my two Sh x Sq pups (18 months).
They are switched on, very affectionate lovely looking and they can gallop.
Im hearing more of the same from the rest of the litter also.
I will be using SH AVATAR again very shortly on a close relation to scissor Queen as she has come on season today
Cheers
Ben
