Is Larkhill Jo still available Peter?
I have this fella here if you wanted to use him.
Hi. Farloe Ironman is high on my list of choices for the bitch as i wanted to use a Premier fantasy dog on her to match up Pauls turn. I am looking at lots of options for the bitch as she has just come in season but nothing is really jumping out at me. Her first litter to Vans Escalade look really good at 9mths and can really run !

Peter you've asked for 'thoughts' and I'm wondering why you are looking to Larkhill Jo or inbreeding by using Larkhill Lo?
There may be others on here who can point to success reintroducing Larkhill Jo so close in your bitch's pedigree - I have seen it work but only with 2 x 4 Staplers Jo CLICK HERE
Your broods dam crossed well with Kinloch Brae and her Top Second Offspring is also by Kinloch Brae. If it was me (and it's not) I'd forget about Larkhill Jo/Lo and Premier Fantasy and go for Kinloch Brae.

I put the Larkhill jo mating up as i was looking at different matings pros and cons and that one had me in different directions whether it was good or bad. I know the half sisters have produced to many different sires but when you look back over the years the best results come from first and second crosses out to Aus/USA studs then back to irish/british breeding. The more times you add bits of Aus or American blood into the mix the less the bitches seem to produce as the Damline keeps getting diluted. They still produce but the amount of good pups in the litters drops quite alot. It is the damline i am breeding for, so Sire would not have as great an influence. How many times do you see multiple dam lines appear in pedigrees of good dogs. Minnies Nikita, skipping chick, lemon soda, sobbing sal...... the list goes on. Will i be able to do this mating in a couple of years time, probably not because all the sires will have a mix of lots of blood in them. Don't you think it is worth doing ?

If you think it's worth doing then you should do it. At the end of the day you are the one bearing the cost. It's good to ask for peoples' thoughts on here but only you can decide what you want to do. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I think a lot of these stud keepers advertise studs that aren`t available and haven`t updated their websites.
Slip the Lark is out of Jo and a under used stud.

I think a simple look at the percentage of pups from a sire that run to high data rating it will soon give you the ten current sires doing above average numbers, its then a matter of selecting from these top performing sires the blood lines or racing character you are hoping to introduce to any offspring, its a very blunt instrument but if you ignore advertising hype and go on hard facts you have a chance of above average pups.

You then need to look at how many of the pups in the litter were good and why the dog produced to that bitch. Many of the top dogs are produced by not a total outcross but very few matching lines to a closely bred bitch. Many go Aussie first cross which produces and then America to the pups from that litter which again seems to produce. The problems start to come when you have similar crosses in both sire and dam but not close enough to produce traits of a single ancestor. You really could end up with anything, maybe 1 or 2 good ones and not much else. So many bitches now have multiple lines in them.
