The IGB have announced they are paying 1 million euro into a new care fund.... But it looks like we the owners and trainers are the ones footing the bill.... They have taken prize money from the restruction of SIS prize money. Also the discontinuance of incentive schemes. ie..... Breeders 15 euro for having bred winner of a race 800 euro for having reached 100+ runners in a year 100 euro for greyhound that have started racing before the age of 19 months... This would add up to a large slice of the new care fund so we are paying for care fund... They have reduced the money for Lifford so they are to run 10 races... this looks like the final nail in the coffin for this track and also Longford is finding it tough as so many of the tracks.. The new care fund could be very busy over the coming weeks and months if these tracks close and a lot of dogs need rehomed.... Where is the 16.5 million gone that they get every year...

Thomas, I think in five years time, there will be 6 or 7 tracks, shelbourne, tralee, Waterford, dundalk,Cork, clonmel, thurles or limerick, I'm only talking about southern tracks, drumbo will still be going I hope, all the other tracks I mentioned, are all igb tracks, funded by grant from the Irish government
