But if his 100 offspring win 200 races in the city, that reads 200%.

Why would I want to know that stat for Jamie?

I want to know what % of his offspring exactly win in the city....& that will never be 100% or more %.

If you accumulate more then 12.33%, you're better than average.

Sorry Stevo, didn't realise I was only taking to your good self.....

But again, if you want to find that information, you will need to go a lot deeper than the official stats, which simply say the leading sire is the one who has sired the most winners.

My overall point, regardless of how each breeder interprets it, is that in the modern desire of authorities is to breed winners. Therefore, it's pointless having a top sires list based on aggregates and not percentages.

By the way, what is Davey Warners strike rate? 160%???

Hi Darren.
I can tell you the Bomb is high on that list. Brett Lee has also moved up as he's still siring litters since that list started. Fernando is into double figures. I'll leave it at that.

Less than 2% of G-data folk realise that truth Steven.

Darren I have an Andos Mac litter going well at the moment and have a straw for the next litter but I was wondering what you think of putting pindari express to winklee terror with the fabregas cross and already proven click with brooks doll.

Hi Ted,

Andos and Pindari are so similarly bred. Id expect Pindari to work in a similar vein. Pindari should show up with Big Daddy Cool at some stage.

Youve got a real go ahead dam line there. With many sires available to you now and into the future.

Cheers,

Darren

Jamie/Darren,

I don't understand a lot of the language used here but I would certainly say that the industry needs and can use data which shows (permanently) the percentage of winners per sire - or group winners if you like. Not sure about dams as many have limited or even no racing careers.

One reason for the above is that the stuff published by AGRA or whatever they call themselves now is highly misleading. The figures for sires and dams are no more than a snapshot for a month or a single year and for Group races only. The only measure should be over a full career, progressively updated as necessary. Apart from anything else, the AGRA data is routinely skewed to one or two top racers with lots of current wins.

IN the same vein, prize money tables should always be inflation-adjusted. (Go Rapid Journey!). It would not be hard to do with a simple Excel program updated annually according to ABS inflators for capital cities.

But there's more. To make life easier it is desirable to integrate the Stud Book and the Form databank so queries like these can be readily handled.

More again. The whole shebang should be passed over to a skilled national data unit which can better relate to current and potential users' needs.

Couldnt agree more Bruce! Sandro said it well a couple of pages ago and as you say...it could only be a great asset and service to a novice breeder/buyer.

"Battle for the Bronze medal" pretty tight as to who will finish third behin FB and BB with DDO,MBF,FAB and KB fighting it out(Aus)

Crucial for studs to get that freak or two to boost their standing, such a tough gig with many below the top ten not getting an opportunity.
