I so appreciate how helpful everyone was with suggestions for Cindy Maree so I hope you dont mind if I ask another breeding question.
Thoughts on a sire for Silent Enemy, she is a litter sister to Jungle Deuce, half sister thru the dam to Tommy Shelby and was a handy race bitch, (19 5-4-1)unfortunately injuring herself at her last start at Wenty and was retired.
During her career she won at Wenty, and also had led all the way wins over the 535 at Richmond, both times BON.
She is a big girl, close to thirty kg.
She has had a litter to Fernando, the obvious choice with Tommy Shelby being by him, that are only about seven months old.
I am tempted to put her back to him - its a proven cross, but interested to hear what people think and who else they might suggest.
Being a Barcia daughter Dee Bee and Rupee may be too close. I like Bernardo......the outcross to KC might be good? As with the outcross to Fusilier with Fernando. There are no outcrosses anywhere close in her lines, not that I see that as a problem but it does leave room to consider an outcross sire?
Thanks everyone.

Interesting duplications and blood in x paths

Could be this sires first son at stud the mating is that good !

Cheap , and a good tell tale first litter to her ability as a brood with the possibility of throwing speed and strength .

Another option to an outcrossed sire line thats best pups are proven to barcia bitches is this guy !
I have just used him also to a barcia bitch , impeccable to say the least !

Sire selection will depend on what your main focus is

If your aim is to just sell the pups for a great price, the answer is easy, right?

I think you should just go with Fernando Bale

Otherwise, if that isn't your aim, then you should try and breed the best litter possible with a sire that matches your bitches lines, temperament, traits and racing style

None of us here really no nothing about your bitch, we may pick up something by watching her race videos, but we only know that she had some pace and she is a sister to Jungle Deuce, thus the answer is easy, go to Fernando, and try to breed another Tommy Shelby

You are certainly acquiring some lovely bitches and putting them to very classy sires. These are the sort of litters we should be promoting and producing. Way too many Moopsy to Boopsy litters being bred lately. The only concern might be the ticket, but there were extenuating circumstances. Sometimes injuries don't show up until they cool down.

Thankyou Paul, I really appreciate your kind words.
And well spotted with the ticket, she had actually torn her hip support, and hence they retired her but the injury was not evident on vetting straight after the race. I did watch the race and you can certainly see where she got into trouble and struggled to get around the first turn, clearly uncharateristic of how she ran her races and evidence of an injury.
I think she won at Richmond the week or so before.
What are your thoughts on putting her straight back to Fernando?

Hmm not sure I"m THAT brave, Jack! LOL! But what a cross!! Would make for some very interesting broodies for down the track!

There is a LOT to like with Wow over her - a Fernando son, two times Go Wild Teddy, three times Head Honcho, Pedro and Hallucinate, two times Black Shiraz and Wow's brilliant Osti damline......Good call Jack.

I do agree, its hard to go past Fernando for this litter. The previous litter are with some very successful owners and rearers so they will have every chance to succeed. They are only seven months old but already standout ripper pups.

A couple of people have been against Fernando simply because it is a repeat mating . Her first litter are only seven months old and the bitch is not even four so its not like she is having her fourth litter and shes eight years old.....
I have no problem at all with putting her back to Fernando myself but just wondering others thoughts.
As far as I can see - genetics are genetics and provided the second litter have at LEAST the same quality rearing, handling, breaking, training and good luck etc, why would they have to be inferior?
I know with performance horses and working dogs when we get a good cross we stick to it and often do the same breedings repeatedly and its not uncommon for the younger siblings to outshine the earlier ones at the same age.
So I am very interested to hear peoples' thoughts on why greyhounds might be any different? There may be very sound reasons for it that I am not aware of.
Thankyou.

There are no sound reasons, except for the fact that you don't know whether Fernando Bale will click with this bitch, as the first litter is too young

That's why breeders usually repeat at the 1st and 3rd and not straight after, but like I mentioned before, it depends on what you are aiming to do - pup sales or finding out what really might click with this bitch
