I see Comedy Act ran a length outside the 431m TR at Ipswich this week. He is by deceased sire Cosmic Chief. I also notice few handy dogs by old sires Collision, Go Wild Teddy and Goodesy recently hitting the tracks.

Is using old sires the new way of refreshing a dam line, like the old outcross? I've heard it mentioned before, just after peoples opinions.

100% it will

I have been saying it for a while now, finally someone is taking notice

With the world shrinking in the greyhound world and the over-proliferation of 4 or 5 sire lines a point of difference needs to emerge

Frozen semen has allowed lines from all around the world to be exported and imported ad infinitum , while is healthy, when the breeders latch onto one sire it seems its pushed to the limit rather than placing limits to balance the gene pool

Droopys Sydney sons who traces back to Roanokee (New Tears sire line) will be the new go to outcross

Re-generation of Brett Lee sires will be the way to go , via sons and grandsons and great grandsons

Using Brett Lee himself, if you can find a good straw, will still be relevant

Collision is still siring Group winners , he was born in 2001

Sons of Bombastic Shiraz, sires like Nitro Burst (sire of Zambora Brockie) and Bit Chili and Spring Gun, who are all promminent as broodbitch sires can still be relevent for the reverse crosses

Cosmic Chief has always been on the 2nd tier of the Brett Lee sires but his bloodlines are of undoubted quality and in the past he ahs shown he can sire some outstanding dogs like Jury , who in turn has sired two potential superstars in Sentenced and Indictment who were cut down early in their careers

Thus Jury could also be a very viable option for breeders as his damline carries outcross lines as well, and coming from Glen Gallons sister who is also present in Flying Ricciardo

I agree too, Paul and Sandro.
Putting my money where my mouth is have just bred a Solar Pak daughter to Collision.
I have always loved Collision as a sire and have a Collision bitch here out of Nino De Oro and I wanted to do that Collision /Solar Pak cross (Feral Franky etc) if I could fine a SP daughter, which luckily I did.
Shes by Kinloch Brae which gives me the outcross I was looking for.
I would strongly consider using Brett Lee and Bombastic Shiraz IF I could find a good straws.

You've brought up a good point in another sire that's not a old sire but carries a lot of older blood, Feral Franky (and his brother Good Odds Harada)

Even as much as they're getting older they're not considered old. Magic Sprite, Fabregas, spring gun, Andos Mac, Pindari express etc. carry a lot of older bloodlines and still get the odd mating

Hey Dixie I know your a forward thinker and a goldmine would be nice. I watched the Outcross sires come in and they were hit and miss regardless of their achievements
But I particularly liked the American lines and the Aussie blood they carried. I brought pups from these lines like Mad Rush and a pup by Saprano Drive with Mad Rush being handy and no good from the SD. My mate and I also used Paddy Whacker who we thought would blend beautifully with our brood but not too be. Any way with the Outcrosses plentiful now in Aus I have a Royal Assassin, Bit Chilli, Fancy Dean, Razldazl Rioga, Hay Fergus, Shoulders straws in play and not just because of the sire line. In fact the dam lines are well performed and the most important thing for me. Cheers

Thankyou for bringing this up. I've been wanting to do this for two breeding seasons. So here I go. I got a Swift fancy straw to put with zipping garth / moonshine whippy (ready to rain)bitch. This will bring collision to the front again. I also have a Hay fergus ( Brett lee)straw too play with also.
