I swore I'd never breed again but this girl is really pushing her case.

https:/ CLICK HERE
Now, I realize she aint no star. But there is a lot of background story to her and I was basically told 32 starts ago that she wouldn't race again.
She had been a T3 battler but over her last 7 starts she has run 22.78 Geelong, 24.00 Bendigo, 22.43 and 25.48 Warrnambool so her T3 days are over for a while.
She is quite the psycho in the catching pen and she lost a tooth on the arm at trials. Mad, mad, mad keen. Which I love.

Anyway, a lot more water to flow under the bridge yet.

Any thoughts on a sire?
Would have to be a relaxed natured sire.

I really like this https:/ CLICK HERE for the future.

Beautifully positioned outcrosses 'not in x' to balance all the linebreeding intensity at face value and behind the pedigree from a nick perspective at very high percentages through the 4 dams attached directly to the sires sireline, all to Tangaloa through different individuals in those dams pedigrees.

Tangaloa to this damline gave up the mighty Aus Cup winner Tangairn.

The other positive is you may be able to go to the track and check out his temperament as he's currently racing.

A bit hard to go that way if he's not a registered sire.

That is very nice.
Love the position of Shimaguni.

The owner lives about 15 minutes away.
Might have to ask the question.

Good dog name also , have to bank that one I think ! Maybe in the next litter you created
Be fitting .!

On a serious note what was that mating you did Yaakov with light of fire Nick to a standard bitch , can you post it here , I have a theory that relates to both matings is all which includes a debate on reasons for possible sire direction now

Cheers

Hi Raakov, You said you would never breed again, having had a good hard look into your bitch i am thinking of a reason why you would breed from her.

Zippy Zuri had 12 pups - 396 races - only 5 wins were over further than 462 mts the old 500 yards, the Grandmother Shimaguni was a very good stayer, Zipping Zuri has a short course gene that has been passed on in her three litters. the facts are there for all to see.

However , if you are wanting 300-400 mt hounds then that is up to you and i wish you all the best as i think you may need all the luck going. do not see you getting 500-725 mt hounds from your bitch

Hey Yaakov, never say never. I can see where Roger is coming from but I think you will have a better chance by doubling up or strengthening the damline through her sire OA. I feel a Sire like Dyna Tron or his brother Dyna Steal would be a good choice. This brings Gold Rush Bale back to the top which is found in X in Orson Allen. This damline brings speed but more importantly strength and will have more of a chance to do this up close. By the way Shimaguni best offspring Shima Song is by Dyna Tron and could run distance so possibly will have more of a chance of over riding those sprinting genes. I think collision will also help add some strength like we see in many of his offspring. Will also be a little less expensive than the current crop of sires going around however I have not picked him for that reason at all. Good luck. Cheers

Rodger, 4 of her 6 wins have been over 450m, there are no 500m tracks within 3 hours of my house, and 700m racing is dead in Australia. So fast 400-450m dogs are exactly what I want.
But as I said, this may never go ahead anyway. If I do go ahead, greyhound racing will have to become a top priority again.
Right now it's a bit of fun but well down on the list.

Each to their own is correct.

They are not negative at all mate, they are realistic.
My local track is Warrnambool, I have Ballarat and Geelong 2hrs away and Horsham 2.5
All these track will put on at least 3 grade5 400m races every meeting. Not often will they put on a 600+ race and when they do, the city trainers come out and take it.
For instance Bendigo Saturday had a 660m. Zulu Blast turned up and the rest are racing for the place. That is just a reality.
As for the money, well it's just not a motivating factor for me.

I think it's a wonderful thing when someone says to themselves "you know what, there's more to this girl than anyone else will ever know, and I'd hate to look back in years to come and wished I'd bred with her".

I've done it, and I'm guessing many other fellow-forumites have as well.

But once, just once, I took that punt on a girl who I knew was special - even if her one start - one win was just a 274m at Appin.

This girl;

https:/ CLICK HERE

Her kids (Data doesn't show just how many city wins they had - my fault) and grand kids gave me and Foo the best days our greyhound lives.

Yaakov, no one knows your girl better than you and I'm thinking, deep down, you know what traits you need to introduce to her progeny - regardless of whether they have the "X" or "Tesio" or whatever.

You're a smart bloke, you'll figure it out.

I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said.

Michael,

So your advising Yaakov to disregard his previous success in breeding a litter https:/ CLICK HERE that any breeder wld be proud to breed, which included an original and very unique LoF nick, and p155 into the wind all over again as if the breeding knowledge gained from that litter never counted for anything?

Just to be clear Ryan, the reason behind that mating was first and foremost because of the bitch. She was a terrible performer on the track but she had something that I really liked about her.
This bitch is the same. She has something...........
So just like with Reeta, I start from that point and then look for the right sire.
And I think the one you put up is exactly what I'm looking for. You know I love those types of matings.
Allen Deed is also ticking boxes. Not sure if he was relaxed or a meathead though?

Ryan,

Either I haven't explained myself very well, or you've misconstrued what I wrote.

At no point did I say that Yaakov should pay no heed to your advice, all I meant was the he knows better than anyone what's worked in the past - and that is the way he should probably go, imho.

If that means he follows some of the various suggestions posted here (or not), he will make the right choice - based on his knowledge of the breed.
