Mate unfortunately that seems to be a bit of a 'trait' with this damline. BUT when they're good, they're usually VERY good.
I have had an interest in the line for a few reasons over the years, having been associated with Super Burst when he stood at Stud up here in Qld. Plus I was going to get a brood a few years ago by the name of Scorpia (also from the damline), but unfortunately she broke her leg in a trialling accident and had to be humanely put down.
Anyway, given that Meticulous was probably one of the most genuine, tenacious 'triers' from the line, you could do a lot worse than a Brett Lee son - or maybe even BL's litter brother (who I have frozens from here in Qld).
If you wanted to double up on the potent Black Shiraz mix, (well proven with the Portraits as I suspect you've also noted), a couple of others to consider could be -
Of your initial thoughts, I would think Collision would be the better option of the two given.
Cheers,
The Wad

rick i was talking to a bloke the other day and he said that a victorian studmaster had told him that collision pups a lot have not got the real chasing instinct in them whilst i dont agree with that i would like to know if this victorian studmaster was anywhere near right with his comments ive only had one collision bitch and she gave 100% all the time cheers chub.

Thanks for your comments will take in to consideration Chub we were going to us Collision I have always thought he threw hard chasers but have since heard the same as you have got a PTP straw as well and they don't chase any harder than Luke so that was teh reason for the possible change as you know she does need to go to a hard chasing sire

glad the decision is up to you rick but no doubt you will make the right choice m8 cheers chub.
I agree with your selections above...either one would be good. Path to Power is starting to throw some nice pups and looks they can run 500m right out as well
Going on the AA theme look at Paddy's Flame because he also brings Gun Law Osti into play...

Sandro yeah PTP does throw good chasing pups and 500 doesn't seem to be a problem we race Luke's a Missile over here and he won well over the 600 in Launceston on Monday night.Collision was our first choice but have heard PTP might throw harder chasers/

Westy, if he reads this, would be the best person to reply.

I read this post when it first appeared a couple of days ago and read with interest obviously. I guess the great thing about breeding is we all have different opinions of which there is a fine line between a d@#khead and a genius.
I refrained from posting as I get squirmish at feeling bias towards suggesting any stud dogs I stand. As Rick knows I said "Path To Power" or "Collide" as I think they suit the bitch in every way as would "Brett Lee".
Anyone that was behind the scenes with Path To Power knows what a freak he was and the times he could run off short preparations were unbelievable. He raced with a terrible shoulder injury his whole career which left him on his bed, unable to be worked at all for normally 2 days after every run, yet he still gave 110% everytime he went around.
I've bred his line for four generations and his Mum "Star Witch" being a Group 1 winning, open class/age bitch is an attribute other stud dogs don't have. How many dams can be this constistent 29 Starts 17 Wins, 6 Secs and 3 Thirds. The worst placing she had was 5th in a Mel Cup prelude beaten 3 3/4 lengths. His litter was hot which is another attribute in his favour.
As a stud dog that started off at $990 and served without being disrespectful average type of bitches, yet his strike rate in what most would ay is the hardest depth of racing in the country, Victoria is just under 21% winners. Brett Lee is 22.6%. He's now taken off really well and done somewhere between 50-60 bitches since November of which a high percentage are real quality so when they hit the track I think he will be a superstar!
I've got a pup by Path To Power X Runway Model who is starting in the Vic Breeders this week. He's potentially the fastest dog I've had and I can't wait until he hits the big smoke. Jimmy Auld has a pup by him that he said is the quickest pup of his age he has put out of the boxes at Shep and ran home in 11.94 at the Meadows off a slip, first look the other day at just 15 or 16 months of age. I was told of one that recently broke 18 seconds at Glengarry also.
Rick and Alan's dog Luke's A Missile went 29.78 when what I believe is one of the most promising youngsters in the country, Damek went 29.73 at Launceston before that Classic a couple of weeks ago but went a couple of lengths quicker from the first section to the last. He has a big motor Rick and hopefully Alan can sort out his box habits and he wins a big one for you all.
I wish you all the best wherever you go with Hellyeah Bess and as the breeder I'm just rapt she's in good hands.
Cheers Paul
