The news that Sidaz Jack CLICK HERE has just been retired to stud gives breeders with dams descending from Brett Lee an opportunity to double up on Sobbing Sal. Likewise with Westmead Flight for those descending from Larkhill Jo - a cross (Hawk x L Jo) I've noticed that seems to be working.

I think it's a great mating and particularly like the fact that Brett Lee is on the dam line of the sire and Big Daddy Cool is on the sire line of the dam. Strong positioning and balanced with not only Sobbing sal but her two fastest sons. The double outcross is a bonus and Brett Lee has worked well with both.

Two years since the last update, are there any recent examples of doubling Sobbing Sal that have worked?

I'm thinking of doing this

Very interesting Ryan.
We are currently waiting for panda bale to come on season.
She won over 400-500-600-700 all in Vic with some impressive times on the board.
At the moment our top two picks are barcia bale then cosmic rumble.
I dont know how u do the link. But barcia gives you the double up on gold rush bale ( un sure if this has previously produced anything) and also the double up of sobbing sal and cosmic rumble also gives you the double up of sobbing sal.
Would love to know ur thoughts?
Thanks

Hi Michael,

I mainly knew Panda as a 600/700m dog and had her running a group dog ptp over the 600m at the Meadows.

Either Barcia or Cosmic Rumble shld suit her as that damline seems to respond to dams that create breeding parallels to Light of Fire for obvious reasons(Kantarn Bale). For example both their dams create approx 94% of Light of fire's pedigree within 5 gens CLICK HERE (ref table below as Princess diro is also cross duplicated), CLICK HERE .

The only difference is that the New Tears/Chariot Supreme/Princess Diro nick is only thru Sobbing Sal in Barcia's dams ped where as there is New Tears/Chariot Supreme and two Princess Diro's in Cosmic's dams (Spiritual Rumble)ped - one thru Sobbing Sal and the other thru Rumble Spirit.

Personally I prefer the particular nick be spread throughout the damline but I know someone who tried Cosmic for this very reason and it didn't work out. My estimation the success rate is somewhere between 35% - 45% using this theory. Having said that breeders of yesteryear if they found a stud with a nick they liked which didn't work the first time, may look to repeat the mating to flip those percentages, but in this day and age..........your guess is as good as mine.

Looking at the success of Panda's damline with Light of Fire using this theory with the dams directly attached to the sireline itself CLICK HERE , there's no where near the intensity CLICK HERE ; or here CLICK HERE ; some reverse intensity of approx 69% CLICK HERE but when you look at what intensity Sobbing Sal creates with Light of Fire CLICK HERE approx 94% AND 88% reverse intensity within 5 gens . The issue with Barcia and Cosmic from this perspective is that Sobbing Sal is not directly attached to their sireline, not at saying it wont work, but with this Jindara Bale damline of Panda's, I'd be far more confident of breeding a top city grade conveyance if Sobbing Sal was directly attached to the sires sireline.

btw I was just helping Simon with his question. I don't for one minute think breeding is as easy as duplicating Sobbing Sal within a ped. That may be the end result at face value but I wld want to logically know why duplicating Sobbing Sal was beneficial to this particular damline. Cheers.

ps. to do the 'click here' you just need to copy and paste the testmating addy, make sure you leave a space on either side of the pasted testmating addy or it wont work.

Thanks Werty, I'm not saying its the silver bullet but I bought straw first and thought I'll find a Bitch to suit I wanted the ww double and think the ss is an added bonus as there are some great examples and no doubt numerous failures.

No worries Simon.

Clearly the jewel in your damline is Power to Burn, so the way I wld look at that damline is that you need to create a breeding parallel to Awesome Assassin thru different individuals in the hope it gives up a Power to Burn type.

Anyway this is the reverse intensity Sobbing Sal creates with Awesome Assassin CLICK HERE . I wld consider 94% within 5 gens very high and what you'd be after, so if the reverse intensity was to click and Sobbing Sal directly attached to Trent Lee's sireline being a prime position in Trent's pedigree, you've given that brood a chance to throw something special if she's got what it takes.

That's one of a couple of major things you can do as a breeder from a pedigree perspective, break down the pedigree and choose a sire that creates a high percentage breeding parallel that has been previously successful with the line.

So in this case at face value duplicating Sobbing Sal looks a huge play for that damline, however I think it's more the very close relationship she has with Awesome Assassin and her positioning in Trent Lee's ped, rather than the duplication of SS that wld get this damline to hopefully give up that special one again . G/l to you Simon if you go ahead with it.
