Pretty rapt in a recent litter we bred by Barcia Bale out of American bitch Chasin The Dream. For depth and sheer ability it is one of the best I have ever been associated with

The litter is just over 2 years old and has a win ratio of 47.8% and a place ratio of 67.2% with a combined total of 67 starts for 32 wins and 13 placings and thats including EVERY member of the litter .. all eight pups

The litter includes Cutting Edge 9 starts for 8 wins .. Hurry Slowly 3 starts for 2 wins .. Lorimer Lad 3 from 3 .. Kasreyn 2 from 2 .. Catch Fire 4 starts for 3 wins Dublin Bull 22 starts for 9 wins

Cutting Edge won the Geelong VBIS final and was a finalist in the Gr 2 Great Chase, Lorimer Lad won the Ballarat VBIS final last Wednesday and Dublin Bull was a finalist in the Gr 3 Sydney Cup

Catch Fire and Kasreyn are having their first looks at Sandown today, lining up in the heats of the Laurels and Dublin Bull is in over the 595m

Cutting Edge is just about the fastest dog weve ever had and I am interested to see just how far this litter goes ... all going well there could be some headliners amongst them in 2016

Very nice litter Geoff, I have been following them as we have a bitch out of LC that we will breed from when she finishes racing.
Do you have any theories on why Barcia Bale has worked so well with her ?

Mick .. hard to say ... the first litter by Bartrim could run okay but had no luck .. one we had out got acidosis early on and our favourite bitch broke her leg during rearing and never raced .. we kept her for breeding and she's now in pup to Bella Infrared

No doubt the Barcia litter is better ... they are more outgoing than the Bartrims and not as nervy ... I like Barcia as a sire .. and I also think he may work well with bitches that have an outcross in their pedigree .. eg: Dyna Double One, Dyna Maddie and this litter

I don't know your bitch's damline but L/Cry is an outstanding brood bitch sire .. CLICK HERE

Mick,I had a look at Geoff's litter & the linebreeding intensity in x goes back to Quare Fire just like the litters many of these household names in Irish racing belong to:

Phantom Flash: (6x7) Quare Fire
Westmead Flight: (6x7) Quare Fire
Hillcroft Josie: (8x9x9) Quare Fire
Jim Joes Up: (8x10x10)Quare Fire
Teds Jo: (8x10x9) Quare Fire
Mountleader Peer: (8x8) Quare Fire
Linda's Champion: (5x5) Quare Fire
Westmead Hawk: (8x10x11)Quare Fire

Quare Fire through littermates Yoblstrap,The Grand Duchess & The Grand Fire

From the very limited work I've done looking at Irish pedigrees, Quare Fire looks very much like cornerstone brood material on that side of the world.

That may explain something to some.

To get the best out of an outcross mating imo it's extremely important to have linebreeding in x within 12 generations to preferably a cornerstone brood.

Geoff, what made you buy the mother of Cutting Edge? I see she was unraced so I assume she broke in very fast but broke down?

THAIDAY NIGHT wins yesterday at Albion Park, doing it tough in sitting outside the leader throughout... Well done to Trainer Brett Hazelgrove & my co-Owner Emma 'The Catcher' Warner.

"TJ" has now had 5 races since escaping RQ's clutches, resulting in 2 wins & 3 x 2nd placings.

Thanks Ryan for taking the time to anaylise the pedigree. Their is certainly some great dogs behind Quare Fire in X.

Thanks Mick.

Incredibly proud of our little girl 'Crystal' (SHAKE YOUR BOOTY: Collision x Kaycee Diva); not only for recording her 16th career win - also in Best of Meeting time of 24.23 last night - but in the process securing the 2015 Cairns Greyhound of the Year title.

She now has an unasailable lead with only 1 race meeting to go for the year.

Apart from her midweek defeat when making the long trip down to Townsville, Crystal has actually won 5 races in a row at the Cairns track. Not bad for a racebitch that's 4 1/2 years old in around 3 weeks time!

A big thanks to all who helped in this journey; starting with the Sharpe family for allowing us to breed from 'Kaydee' (Kaycee Diva); also to Deb & Stephen Arnold & the family for whelping and rearing her; then to Andrew & Kelly Suli in Rocky; followed by Emma Bryant and most recently John Thurlow for Training her up in the far North.

Very proud 'Uncle Anthony' today :-)

Well done lads.

I saw Chief's win Phillip. Great chasing and railing display, especially from the Pink and over the less suitable 395m trip.

Sorry Mick and Craig that I havent got back to you before this but I wasnt sure if I would be hijacking this topic by responding .. ???.. anyway I dont claim to be an expert and Im not suggesting that I know any more than Ryan or anyone else but I dont look at a pedigree like that ... I keep things much more simplified.

I dont mind looking back into the 6th or 7th generation but only out of interest .. and those generations dont come into my equations when trying to breed a good race dog. I do take a special interest in the direct damline or bottom line but there are 64 dogs in the 6th generation and 128 in the 7th generation of a pedigree so to me thats fairly diluted.

Quare Fire would be doubled up on the 6th and 7th line in thousands of dogs so while its nice to have her there, I would suggest that the more current members of this pedigree ie: Dreamy Blossom .. would have far more influence here than her .. but anyway each to their own

CHASIN THE DREAM - she could run but broke a toe and never raced her dam Dreamy Blossom was an absolute superstar on the track and an All-American her damline (Representation-Lear Jet-Tish The Dish) has produced more All Americans than any other US damline .. and CTD is by Lonesome Cry who is developing into one of the worlds best broodbitch sires

BARCIA BALE as a race dog he was rated very highly by the Wheeler camp not just the Wheeler family but even the workers rated him as something special .. every time I ran into them around the traps all they would talk about is Barcia. He offered the Head Honcho sire line which worked with imports in Ireland and his dam is a grand-daughter of Brett Lee via Hallucinate and a litter sister to Bartrim Bale.

So pretty simple really .. a well-bred imported bitch from a great damline by a top brood bitch sire mated to a well-bred fast Australian sire

Witch on wheels produced her first winner in flaming Sahara winning on debut at Mandurah in 23.31.

No mean feat considering the issues the litter encountered as pups.
