You would want to hope that he can throw some strength into her pups as she could only run 400 metres. I tried sell my Fabregas pups from a City winning bitch 700 metres and sold 4 of 11 at $ 2 k so I would think you are going to struggle to sell them until she proves herself .In saying that I breed to race but when she had 11 this was the reason I advertised . Good luck Ben

What you have said is very true. I guess time will tell. Although in saying that Surf Queen is number 2 maybe number 1 now of the best producing brood bitch In Australia in 2014. My bitch was far better performed on the race track than surf queen was, but doent mean she will produce a better quality greyhound racer. Still the question remains what would be a fair price for her fabragas pups now that they are hitting the tracks with some very impressive times?
She was a very quick bitch no doubt but that means bugger all now mate. I'd put $2500 on them and that's being fair I think.

I bought a Fabregas pup from a full sister to a group winner that had 30 starts and won from 300 to over 500m and was in the money 80+% of the times for under 2k.
Pups will always sell if priced right.

Thanks for your input guys appreciate it. Mark she did win with in one length of track record time time over 480m. And that's with well documented stomach injuries. But I am bais, I did ask the question and thank you again. For 2k to 2.5 k I think I will keep the lot. Thanks again for your input.

Ben, a FABREGAS pup will fetch more than $2500 out of Scissor Queen, I'm quite certain of that. She may be unproven but she's not proven to be a failure either. Great damline so plenty of Qlder's to snap those pups up, especially when you can now win at Ippy on Sat & pick up $2k

that's the thing with prices if you can get more what your asking well good for you, but three people have given a pretty similar reply yet no doubt some people may pay overs. As an example ben pups out of sheika who won the group 1 paws of thunder, finalist in the easter egg, temlee and multiple city winner and very quick bitch had a litter for sale recently and they asked $8000 (they sold for $4500 from all reports) no slight on your bitch ben but a track record puts more weight than a length off a track record, one positive she was a litter sister to don't knocka him.
test Glenn's theory and put $3500 on them and see how you go, the market will tell you pretty quick if they are buying or your keeping the lot!
anyway back to fabregas hey!

My understanding is they've been having trouble keeping up with demand and have had to knock people back due to filling his quota so you'd probably have to say yes it is justified. Doesn't hurt his early pups are doing it on the track either.

definitely not IMO but neither was cosmic rumble worth the rise (still isn't in my opinion, demand is there and people will pay it!
It's the same with wheelers dogs, why would it be any different with fabregas.
Unfortunately that's the way the stud game is now! No group 1 winner a couple of talented ones around and bam the go up! Can't say I agree with it myself but hey at least westy is a good bloke and will go above and beyond for someone.
Maybe westy sees an underlying reason like (a few rockets about to be unveiled.) It's only $550

$550 x (full book) 216 = $118,800 per annum

Yes well I'm pretty sure if we all owned him and he was getting truck loads of bitches we be happy to increase his fee. (Well excluding at least myself as I have a belief they must throw more than one good dog a day have a level of consistency) also if I owned a stud dog anyone that used him in his first season would have a subsequent service locked in at the original fee for bitches on season if they wanted to use him again.
But for most, cash is king.

It's like anything in life, if you want it you will pay for it.
Isn't the old saying that the straw is the cheapest part of the process?
We must remember that there's plenty of sires out there and some VERY underrated ones at that for a fraction of the price but people would rather SAY they bred to so and so and try an sell a few were in reality they could do just as good or better to another sire but the stigma and doubt of being able to sell or not having the next popular sire as the father keeps them away.
I like Fabregass and of everyone I've spoken to only one person said they don't like his pups but I liked him enough to buy a pup from him and I'd use him at his current fee no hesitation if he suited my needs.

Yes johno it wouldn't put me off using him either. He does throw a nice type of pup these far.
Lol I have mainly seen stud masters use that line.

He's a safe bet to produce something for sure but will he produce many?
A simple piece of advice I received not that long ago which is basic at best but true is don't breed to sires throwing promising fast pups but use sires throwing the best city dogs week in week out.
I still like to breed to my preference but never a truer word has been spoken as that advice.

For a young sire he is making a presence with about 8 winners in the last two days from 400m-520m
As a group they aren't old enough to hit the city 5th grades yet but it would seem it will only be a matter of time that they make their presence felt
At this stage they seem to be sprinting types. It will be interesting to see how this first crop develop

I don't want to speak out of turn but I doubt you will see any Fabregas semen exported to Ireland/UK any time soon simply because current demand is so high in Australia.
