I notice that Fabregas has been placed on the Active Sires list.Has he been retired or has Paul already drawn some frozen?Brilliant dog with a great pedigree...shouldn't have any problem attracting bitches.Wondering what fee he would command. Cheers Bert.
Fabregas is only a boy...turns 2yo next month.Already a Group 1 winner but many of the Bombastic's take a bit of time to mature and he is a big dog.Providig he is,and stays sound,I'm sure the best is yet to come.Probably the most exciting youngster on the scene.Either way I wish the dog and connections good luck.
Thanks for the info Kerri..I'll bet Paul's phone is running HOT. Regards Bert.

Freakin Hell .... this is what i hate about greyhound racing ... as soon as a PUP looks half decent ... lets draw straws ... LET THE FREAKING DOG RUN ... THATS WHAT HE WAS BORN TO DO ... THERE WILL BE PLENTY OF TIME FOR BREEDING LATER.
Talk about cashing in on one race .... F**K ME
I have no doubt he will be an an AWESOME dog ... so let him be just that ... LET HIM RACE

Mate .. seriously ... use him YES ... but he isnt 2 year old ... let him race and do what he is meant to do .... whether he is 2 or 5 .. he will be a freshman sire when he starts breeding. PEOPLE WILL USE HIM. It just pisses me off that people go straight for the cash when they get a good pup .... Gone are the days of racing a dog for the fun of it or to watch your dog achieve things that maybe no other has ... These days ... as soon as your dog wins a big race ... people are off drawing straws and making money ... Good on them .. and good luck to them .... But for me .. I do it because i love it ... to see my dogs run around ... not to cash in on the first hint of success

actually if you had bothered to ring paul westerveld you would have all the information not just your oppinion!
I actually took the time to speak with paul and like smart stud owners he has drawn straws and intends to keep racing him and in his own words dogs like him do not come around all that often so he will continue to go around until he shows other wise!
can i ask you what is the harm to draw some straws now and get him some bitches so when he evetually retires from racing he already has progeny on the ground?
cashing in? what are we playing chess or racing greyhouns? with the competitive industry of stud dogs at present any decision made to get litters on the ground before he goes to stud is a wise choice and the majority of the greyhound public will see it that way!

Well I,m afraid I,m with Shane let the dog do some racing it is getting very boring watching dogs have a short career then off to stud. There,s a race called the EGG and the Derby before that and many more between now and Easter so let,s see if he can race a half decent career ..and then hope they don,t overdo his stud price if he has greater success
Im failing to see why people are having a whinge......
Its not like the dog is being advertised at stud or the straws are being advertised. It seems he has drawn some straws to either use himself or for a few select breeders to use. The dog will continue to race until he is retired. At the end of the day its Pauls dog and if he wants to use him over a ew bitches good on him why does it concern us?

I was pretty focused at high school till I started drawing straws lol, is there any history of dogs losing the plot or not being as focused on the track after this is done?.
