Hi, just wondering what people put in their broth to feed the dogs? I'm currently putting lamb or beef bones, carrots, celery, swede and pearl barley. I usually cook it for a few hours, take the bones out and put it on top of their food.
I'm lucky enough to work in the family butchers business so can get any bones etc for free.
Any recomendations? Any advise?

Cheers

Richard, don't know if I wld use swede as from the cabbage family.

The other ingredients are good. I used to use a couple kgs of boiling beef then slide the bones out before giving it to them. Also a whole tomato and uncut brown onion to neutralise the mixture and take the onion out before feeding.

The pups looked terrific and that's the key.

Richard you are lucky to have access to the greatest tonic on earth "Bone Marrow"
Cut the bones and scrape out the Marrow
Careful not to overfeed as it will cause diarrhea

Bone marrow, the soft mushy stuff inside bone, is considered a delicacy in many kinds of cuisine. It contains a high percentage of fat -- about 96 percent -- but also many beneficial qualities, leading to potential health benefits. These include building immunity, repairing wounds, helping with digestion and even fighting cancer.

Many Uses Worldwide

Bone marrow, in broth or in other forms, is a global wellness tool. Dr. Daniel Auer, a certified clinical nutritionist, says almost every culture claims some form of bone-based concoction. The Chinese use bone to support kidney and digestive function and to build blood. The Weston A. Price Foundation reports another example from a North Carolina mountain Indian population. Their diets rely heavily on wild game, and they value marrow to nourish their growing children.
