friend of mine has very good bitch and plans to breed from her nxt yr,she is in season at present and was planning on getting passport sorted while shes off,is it safe and ok to give rabies vacc during seasonal break?any advice please(maybe one for carol)thanks

Keith, not sure if you are referring to me or not, but if you are, I'm sorry but I cannot help with this query, as we don't need them for our local dogs. I don't know anything about the treatment.

In Germany most dog/bitch is vaccinated against rabbies.
The only problems I know of are with puppys to young for the vaccination. The timetable is fixed by the time, the vaccination is recomendet (1 or 3 years lasting up to the fabricate). So never heard of anyone, not doing the rabbies vac because of seasonal break.
But - as vaccinations stimulate the immune system, any vaxed dog should have a bit rest afterwards (1 or 2 days should do for a fit dog - and an unfit dog is not to be vaccinated at all).
I prefer cooler weather if got the choice to minimise the load in general.
