The most important thing is to confine her to a kennel. When not in the kennel she is kept on the lead, no jumping around. You need to reduce the swelling asap with ice at least 3 times a day for 5 to 10 minutes, either by placing her wrist in a bucket while she's standing or lay her down & use an ice pack. Carol & others will fill you in on the rest.

Comfrey cream. Once the swelling is down. Slap it on thick. Wrap loosely with vetwrap. One night on, one night off. Good stuff

Zheng Gu Shui, the one with about 20 odd ingredients, is also brilliant for fixing bones. Make sure that you get her neck and upper back thoroughly checked out, too.

Tony, no sorry, as I have never come across one with this injury. Just thinking though, has it been diagnosed by an X-ray by a competent vet, and is there any displacement or chips off the main bones ? How did it happen, as it is an unusual injury ? Whether the dog will race again will depend on the severity of the injury, and whether the bones heal properly. However, don't rush with him, as it is a serious injury. Good luck.

Sounds a bit suss, Tony. What did the x ray show ? What are his symptoms ? If he is locked up for 4 months, his muscles will be affected due to lack of use. He would be better off in a small yard where he can move around if he feels like it.

Good idea. What are his symptoms, as they can have a slightly twisted pelvis, as the result of a bump, etc., and this will affect his action. This can be corrected. Did you see the x-ray ?

That's no good, Tony. I would still get a second opinion, and if he were mine, I wouldn't keep him locked up for 4 months, as I said before. What symptoms is he showing ? Is he lame and does he have trouble walking ?

Matt start by applying ice / Ice water then reduce swelling by placing Magnesium Sulphate granules in a small gauze bag (cut pillowcase) wrap around the bone and hold with Cohesive bandage. Calcium Phosphorus with Vitamin D3 - 1/2 dose morning and night first day - Daily dose next morning then double daily dose morning and night until healed - Another great product is Boron, it hardens bone. Great supplement for Racing Greyhounds to strengthen bones - Good Luck.

Wonder drug for bone injuries, there is only one! "TILDREN". I have personally seen this work with miraculous results. Can be expensive, but worth it. The top thoroughbred trainers have used it with great success. (it somehow remodels bone)

I am not a vet, but i had a dog crack a pelvis over 20 years ago ( did the splits on jumping), returned after 4 months, good as ever. Won first up. No "TILDREN" around then.
