Ken, if you can get Malaseb shampoo over there, give her a good wash in that. That does a great job. Then you will have to address the reason for her poor coat. Try and get some fat and flaxseed oil into her daily diet. You will see a difference in a few weeks. Also, check her tonsils, as chronic tonsillitis will often adversely affect the coat.
Livamol is a very good vitamin/mineral supplement which will really improve coat condition, too, so good luck.

besides all of the other advice that is fantastic for reconditioning the coat. I sometimes wonder if stress plays a part.
One of my pups on return from a two week stint away had the worst dandruffy real scaly coat. It's interesting that you said she is still getting use to her surroundings, so same thing as being in a new place, some cope better than others. With the mirror - will she ever get use to it? When I had one of my older dogs in my room, I had to cover it up, as she would just bark at it, and I don't think she ever would have got use to it - as she probably thought it was another dog.

If they are not getting adequate hydration in their meals, dehydration can occur, especially if they are under the stress of racing at the same time. This will cause the coat to dry out, and dandruff to form.

Best way around the mirror paranoia is to dress her up as a handsome male...every time she looks she sees a sexy man.
Make sure there are a few hundred dollar bills hanging out the pockets...works every time.

Add a "Fish Oil Capsule" to her evening meals. This will help take the dryness out of her skin & coat.

Hi ken

Use this product , it is available to you in your country
It has all the nutrients your dog could be lacking at present and I'll gaurentee her coat will be shining in under 48 hours of first initial use ! Teaspoon of cod liver oil also over night time meal every day of her life .

This is the product EXTERNAL LINK
Don't listen to any negative talk about this product , trainers in AUS have won premierships on it ! FACT

I'm aware it's an old thread , good to know how you went ken ??

Vitamin E deficiency... just go to woolies and get a bottle of Sunflower Oil and give about a teaspoon a day in the meal.
Alternatively, feed very high quality kibble (high protein and high fat) and reduce the meat content in meals.

Ken
Shampoos and skin conditioners applied externally are band aids
for issues more likely to be dietary.
Probiotic is the start point then suggestion of Fat/Fatty Acids (Oil) added to the diet as well as Vitamin E for tissue and cell repair as have already been suggested.
