Ihave a young (16month) pup that broke the T2 TOE section of his back left foot. The discussion with the Vet was that as much of the TOE as possible would remain.Would leaving the T1 section have helped in racing (TRACTION) What they have done I found after removing the dressing was the whole TOE has been removed.
Has anybody raced a dog with Toe missing from the back outside leg??? Your thoughts, observations Please.
Thanks Terry Turner.

Have had a few dogs race with toes missing........including one on the rear outside (second toe in from the outside).

Remaining toes need to be strapped or have an elastic on for support but I've never noticed an appreciable drop in form.

Some dogs do take quite a few runs/trials before they feel comfortable on it and get back to their best.

Terence
We have a dog racing at the moment with the whole near side back toe missing , his name is Umatilla . He lost the toe in his frst race start and gone on to win 11 races so far including 6 at Wentwrth Park . He isnt quick early but the missing digit doesn't appear to hinder him at full speed . Ray

Persian Spy had a toe removed from that leg when he was over three years old. He made an Easter Egg Final after that.

I believe World Title raced with a right back foot outside toe removed.
