Hi all,
My ex-racer "Flyaway Budgie", is doing really well for her age (12 yrs 1 month).
What's the oldest greyhound recorded on this site, and what are the most common ailments in elderly rescue hounds?

Had.They are gone now,but Just Escaped (Billy),Jail Empress(Nellie) and Elvis all lived past 12yrs. Billy 17yrs,Nellie 16yrs, Elvis 14yrs.
Billy and Nellie died suddenly of heart failure.Billy cost me during his last 3yrs lung problems, but Nellie just got older and older like me.Elvis was Pancreaitis, three tumours.
If rescue hounds have bone injuries probably arthritic problems, but some good medication around these days.Teeth in old age unless you keep on top of it (clean their teeth).
Good food,Groom them often,Exercise and an armchair setee or couch

My girl England's Rose died this year. She just made it to her 14th birthday. I have a total of 30 greyhounds most of which are retired racers or didn't want to be racing dogs in the first place! The oldest currently is Europa Kay who was 12 this month. She came to me because "she wasn't any good" but she raced regularly for me and won at Youghal and Clonmel.
