Hi all

I bought a pretty decent dog only recently from Victoria and after I had him over to vet before placing with my regular trainer we found he has front left Metacarpal soreness and Sesamoid soreness.

Just wondering whats your thoughts on best possible treatment for this fella as from what vet said to me was to treat inbetween runs with capsicum spray etc.

Previously when I trained myself before I got sick with cancer I always used either bone radiol or Zheng Gu Shui or Dermacusal etc then maybe wrapping a poultice.

Is there any new product out there that would be good to use in helping with the soreness so it does not affect his performance on the track.

I paid five figures for this dog and only want the very best for him.

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Trevor

Trevor u are in the right track u can also use Odzon before u trial then wash off straight after running. Also get a good muscleman to check hips and shoulders in case u are getting referral pain.A little care in the beginning may pay dividends.

Hi Kenneth cheers mate. Yeah he was sore in his triangle muscle as well for which vet needled for us and now has been put on laser. Will have a trial next week as vet said give him a run after doing the treatment so will stick to his plan. Paid quite good money for him so nothing will be spared on this fella. Very well bred dog and his litter brothers sister already running and winning group 1s. This dog already won 9 races including a fast 34.19 Sandown and 37.34 Shepparton so he has ability.

Time will tell but will ensure he is kept sound as was a little concerned after.vet said will need management after each run. Normally I would call previous owner and question the injury but decided best to just do what vet said and see how we go.

Thanks again mate for the advice.

Trevor

I really hope he does, but 90% of the time they are only sold because something is wrong, not negative I'm a realist..

Trevor Congarts on the new addition!.

Im no professional but this is what some professional's would do.

Bone Radiol 3 days on 2 days off x3
Laser for as many days required or until he shows no more soreness

and give him a month off at least that way you have covered all bases ensuring him the best recovery possible

After this first race laser again and ice his metacarpals (I would do this after every run)

Good luck and may be bring u truck loads of fun!

On the laser a lot with him. Seems to be working on him. Appreciate your words Jack. Cheers.
