To help with this very important study could all members please update their dog's bereavement message, or submit any information to Shelley directly at:

handpicked@embarqmail.com

The information about greyhound cancers in AU, IE and UK are equally important as bloodlines have gone back and forth between all countries for decades, so posts or forwarding on information should not be limited to US dogs.

If you are unable to update your dog's bereavement message please post the details in this thread and a team member will do the update.

Thank you to all members for taking part and sharing this information.

That's great news Tony, about time a study was done, over the years I have had different lines carrying the gene. I had a stud dog that had bone cancer and two of his pups got it, one in the brain and the other in his spleen he was only 5 years old.

Hi Catriona, greyhound people have suspected for years certain lines are more prone to cancer. It will be interesting to see what the study comes up with. Thanks for your input.

Bereavement messages? Where do I find these, or write them for my dogs? We've just adopted our 7th greyhound and have lost three to various cancers.

Judy, on a dog's pedigree page, open "Edit". You will find the Bereavement Message field below the "Comments" field.

I know a lot of greyhounds who died of cancer. Among them three own dogs. Unfortunately I can't update a dog and get the message: This page is locked

Hello Shelly
I have a dog named Jimmy Newob who has just retired. He will be 4 on the 28/5/19 . Since his retirement he developed a lump near the base of his tail. We had it removed but didn't get it tested . He has since grown another one on his forehead . His breeding is Cosmic Rumble x Nosey Rozy. Hope this helps your study.
Regards
Keith Bowen

I wonder how much is caused by glyphosate from spraying weeds in yards?

Awareness only.
Another cancer study in dogs by Pharmaust.
I am currently a shareholder of a Bio Company Pharmaust (PAA) on the Australian stock exchange asx.
They are about to start stage 2 dog trials with there patented anti cancer drug Monepantel.
This drug has already had successful trials in dogs reducing tumors and stabilising cancer.
The initial drug was in a syrup form and not palatable enough for dog treatment.
New trials start next week with reformulated drug in tablet form, already trialled for pallatability with beagles readily eating tablet from hand with no side effects.
If successful, Elanco are in the background with an option agreement for Vetranarian cancer applications. This tablet has also been through testing with Olivia Newton John Foundation with positive results. Successful outcome will lead to Human trials.
Not an expert in this area but well worth dog owners knowing that if successful, this drug could be given at home with no high cost radiation treatment.

Hi Karin,
If I am right, you can yourself add Information on the dogs GD-Web page - get there via the link below it's name on its pedigree-page.
Hope this helps :)
