Redmill have stated today they are to stop sponsorship of greyhound racing in Ireland... Gutless b..t..ds... I have used Redmills all my racing career but NEVER AGAIN... If they are walking away from our sport because of rte programme then its time for us to walk away from them... There are a lot of decent, loving, caring owners and trainers being tarred with the same brush as the scumbags that were on that programme....
LETS SHOW THESE PEOPLE OUR INDUSTRY WONT LIE DOWN AND PLAY DEAD..

This is just the beginning. The RTE programme needed responding to immediately and sponsors needed to be contacted straight away. Obvious this was not done so the tsunami will continue to grow before it comes crashing down on all involved in the sport.

I would not blame the sponsors, if you had a business putting money into sponsorship and saw the RTE programme would you really keep supporting it?

As stated before we are at a crossroads and big changes are needed if greyhound racing is going to continue in Ireland.

I would urge all Greyhound owners all Farmers involved in our industry all horse owners involved in our industry including jp McManus not to purchase any supplies from redmills ever again our loyal sponsors are leaving us because of a program that was put together by a team of antis this program did not show how our Greyhound industry is but how the antis want it to look.

Tony... Im led to believe rte are doing a programme of the same nature about horse racing... if it comes out as bad do u think redmills will pull the plug there... Then maybe they will do a programme about the cattle, pigs, chicken industries...
WHERE WILL IT STOP

Brian, do you think not buying Redmills will get you more sponsors. With time and the right approach Redmills may reconsider.

Bobby, I understand your reaction and others that have been loyal to Redmills.

At the end of the day this requires to visit Redmills in person by a member/s of the board and try to explain to them why they should stand by the greyhound people who have supported them for years. It is now probably to late for this but it still should be tried. This needs to happen with all the sponsors where possible.

Boycotting Redmills in my opinion is closing the door on them ever coming back.

Pauline Mc Lynn and her troupe set to protest at Newbridge tonight.
Feelings running high right now. On another forum _ non greyhound_ someone asks the question if the TV stations lawyers were asleep at the wheel in letting this programme air given its inflammatory and biased nature

Ihave never before commented on greyhound data but I feel compelled to make my views known about Redmills.I have been feeding their products to my 10/12 greyhounds for years and to put me in the same category as the cowboys we witnessed on TV is the last straw .Will NEVER AGAIN BUY ONE OF THEIR PRODUCTS
PS I HOPE EVEN AT THIS LATE STAGE IGB WILL NOW DEAL WITH THE CHEATS AND COWBOYS AND GIVE US BACK OUR SPORT .

I have bought Redmills for 32 Years. It stops today. Its time we took back control. The igb is not fit purpose and needs complete reform. The people on the programme are not representative of greyhound owners and breeders in this country. it would appear that there is an implosion within the regulatory bodies and someone needs to get a grip fast.

Sporting pursuits such as greyhound racing and horse racing are in our Dna. This is an attack on our heritage and an attempt to destroy a viable industry which if managed properly brings benefits to all parties. In all walks of life and especially sports where animals are involved you will find people who are unfit to have animals. This need to be regulated full stop.

I think we need to mobilise and the like of Connolys must be shown the implications. I would ask all famers and breeders of horses and dogs to make their feelings know to their local co-ops and suppliers. There must be a financial implication to their actions.

With the greatest respect Sir. Do you think a visit by any of these indviduals who could not tell you the difference betwen the head and the tail of a greyhound would make any difference to the overall state of affairs. I think not. Unless the minister gets a grip and directs board members in their responsibilites we are going to slide in to oblivion.

'the failure of the regulatory bodies in the sector to address these unacceptable activities has led Connollys Red Mills to make this decision'

That is from the statement released today from Redmills. While it is easy to blame Redmills the response from IGB has been pitiful. We need a strong comeback from those who promote our sport and we haven't got it.
Saying that it does scream of tokenism from a company that supports all field sports such as foxhunting and shooting. Rural sports need to stick together and this is a major blow for our sport.

I'm not sure you can blame a company for not wanting to be associated with the drugging and slaughtering of dogs. We can protest our innocence 'til the cows come home but we all know it's going on don't we?

Tony's right if the rule makers won't (or can't) kick out the rule breakers we will all pay. The majority of us run our dogs clean and don't have them killed at the end of their careers but the association has already been indelibly linked with the sport.

There is a new generation of public opinion now and it is rewriting the rule book on what is acceptable. The IGB needs to get on the right side of this public opinion (and quickly) or we really could be at the beginning of the end.

Hi Brian, yes it was very short sighted of them and they will have to face the consequences of losing business.

Unfortunately Kevin this is like a rerun of what happened in N.S.W. Australia a couple of years ago.

It started with "hidden video cameras", followed by a biased TV programme. Sponsors were leaving the sport, the antis had a field day with all sorts of propaganda, the public were up in arms and the premier of N.S.W. banned greyhound racing. It was a hard road to get it reinstated but it was. Everyone in Ireland if they don't already know they should understand the magnitude of what can happen here.

Greyhound people need to put all old vendettas aside and unite to fight the lies stated and shown in that show. This could be done by raising funds for adoption Irish adoption groups. Publish on social media any good news stories. Compile a list of how many retired dogs with their names are keep by owners. Greyhound-Data are more than happy to assist in any way to help these points become a reality.

The IGB need to take action even if it is only doing interviews pulling apart the TV programme. Legal action against the channel, full page newspaper adverts telling the truth about how the majority of greyhound people treat their dogs, etc. Once this is done they can start to rebuild by listening to grass roots greyhound people who have been in the sport for years and know exactly what needs doing.

The vet on the programme was very anti greyhound racing and had his own agenda to ruin greyhound racing and keep on the good side of his girlfriend who fronts Rte. .. The plot thickens.
The IGB should challenge him in court in all his findings. If he knew dogs were testing positive for EPO should have reported it instead kept it to himself until this show aired.
Oniell greyhound food has made a statement to stand shoulder to shoulder with the greyhound faternity..

A good legal team could drive a coach and 4 through all the spin
and innuendo(in my opinion)
Brand IGB is in tatters now as a result.
Even dealing with being called animal abusers going in to tracks. The silence from IGB....
Have they advice on how to deal with this?
