Is their anything been done inregards to these protests we have antis arriving at our stadiums hanging their posters on the gates and rails shouting abuse at young middle and elderly people, people they have never met or know anything about and our response to this is zero its a pure joke and a show of weakness with in our industry remember their the ones arriving at our gates shouting abuse so straight away their the aggressors...

Brian as I recall the Garda advice is to ignore them. I'm sure I read that on Talking dogs.
I agree with you as regards zero response.
They are being run by overseas groups with shed loads of "donate now to free the dogs" cash.

Ignoring them is the biggest mistake we will make the general publics perspective of our sport hangs in a thread these people are destroying the name of our sport their targeting sponsorship and groups wishing to have benefit nites ect they know exactly where to drive the knife and we sit inside our stadiums and do nothing because the gaurds and the igb said to well when our industry is finished what will the gaurds and the politicians that works in igb say then...this industry doesn't belong to the gaurds or the igb it belongs to us... doing nothing is not the correct thing to do, and when that derby airs on rte Saturday nite on live television I would tell it to them as it is and I'd have no stone unturned in what id tell them, their lying vet their 20 year old fottage their foreign fottage which is nothing to do with us their inaccurate numbers the lot,

Hi Brian, since the RTE programme every positive action is coming from the grass roots greyhound people, i.e. raising funds, posters etc. etc.

Without any initiative, support or voice from the Irish Greyhound Board it simply is not enough.

I urge the board to forget their own agendas or their own survival and step up and do your jobs, represent the Irish greyhound people!

Yell the truth from the roof tops, get onto all the social media you can and put the real facts out there, take out full page adverts in the newspapers, for god sake stand up and be counted before its to late.

I can guarantee if the board does this everyone will unite and real progress will be made.

Brian, I could not agree with you more, doing nothing and keeping silent is not the way forward but is the way to close down greyhound racing in Ireland.

These are my personal views only and not those of Greyhound-Data.

Yes Tony we need social media telling the truth for sure.

Look at this lot. They are seem to be fanatical in their enthusiasm to do dog people down.
We don't need tailors dummys at the top table now.

Straight up what's stopping a 1000 greyhound people standing amongst them they be so many of us they wouldn't even be seen just mask them don't touch them and don't say anything to them and when all the crowd is in then we all go in...igb should get a injunction against them and they would have every right to...

I don't think an injunction would be granted. Like it or not, they have a right to protest

Yes and we have the right to do something about them... instead were been told dont engage shut our mouths and ignore them and hopefully they will go away and any attempt may by us to stand against them was handled by hunting our protest inside the track (out of the public eye)

To mingle the greyhound owners trainers and breeders need to be very careful. The way the antis work is if someone stands up to them they group together and 20 or 30 of them will video u with sound muted so their man faces up to u calling ur mother , wife ,children every bad and insulting thing they can think of, finnally when u see red and punch him they have 30 videos of u striking him and they will all say in court u hit an innocent bystander.... So fight fire with fire get everyone to video antis and call a meeting and share all our videos then edit them down and get it online... Dont fall into their trap , keep a cool head dont fall into their trap...

Surely the real problem here is the lack of activity by the IGB in defending our sport. For example they boast about the 400,000 spent on a testing machine yet even though they receive some 16 million annually from the government there are no testing facilities on site at the sports leading track on Derby night. If there was a testing machine at Shelbourn all of the entrants of the Derby final, consolation final and Plate could be tested prior to the races taking place and the spectators could be reasured of the honesty of the participants. As things stand several of the trainers of the dogs in these races have been found to have been before the stewards with dogs in other races with banned substances in their systems the only sanction being modest fines, probably paid by millionaire owners. Perhaps if these trainers and their owners were given lengthy bans we could all have more confidence in the sport. The Retired Greyhound Trust receives a percentage of all winning prize money but how many greyhounds do they re-home? Who knows! Recently one of my low grade dogs broke it's hock in a race. The first thing the track vet said to me even before asking my name was "do you want me to put the dog down" Of course I didn't and got my own vet to repair it's leg at a cost of 646. The dog is at home with me and is a lovely pet but won't race again. If the track vet had put the dog down it would have cost me nothing. How much better it would have been if the vet's bill had been paid out of the 16 million government money. I asked the racing manager to announce that the dog injured in the race had seen the vet and would have treatment and be retired as a pet but of course the RM couldn't be bothered. It could have been good publicity. I could go on and on but there are so many things the IGB could do to enhance the image of greyhound racing but I won't hold my breath! It is hardly surprising there are antis demonstrating.

THE PROTESTERS:-
I would say some of them dressed to looked like undertakers.
As I drove in the main gate the tall skinny bastard with the bowler hat and the black flag smashed the flag pole across the boot of my car. I stopped the car and got out to speak to him however a Garda ordered me back into my car and told me to drive on into the car park. I have a photo of this gentleman standing proud with his bowler and flag.
As I was taking his photo the American dwarf who was featured in the newspapers saying she was proud to have had an abortion was shouting at me through her loud halo, shame on you, close Shelbourne Park. Yes indeed, dual standards, its all right to abort an unborn fetus however its criminal to put down a seriously injured dog.
There is no doubt they had rent a crowd in operation on Saturday night. These people are being funded and advised by a higher authority. The outfits many of them were wearing were on hire for the night.
Like everything else with the IGB they bury their heads in the sand. There is a positive case of intimidation on young and old entering the stadium. Roaring at couples with young children entering the stadium is a total disgrace. I see young boys and girls with their parents being told "Don't bring your children in there, they murder dogs, shame on you". If that's not intimidation then i don't know what the meaning of intimidation is.
I received a message from an old friend today telling me that the Public Accounts Committee were told the Travel Expenses for the IGB was" Half A Million Euro" in 2017. Now I don't know who's doing all the driving however I do know who's getting rode in this instance, "The Greyhound Man and Woman".
Many of the IGB fat cats attended the Derby on Saturday night, did anyone see even one of them down mixing with the crowd? I don't think so. They are at a higher level than the plebs who provide the dogs for racing and the General Public many of whom never miss a race meeting.
I rest my case!

There is nothing stopping the pro racing people from making up their own signs and protesting the protesters.

In Florida some of the kennel people made up signs that supported our side and also signs that said the antis were lying. I would guess you would have to follow the same rules as the antis and if the antis get confrontational video it, but don't let it get out of hand and be peaceful.

Its about time your industry started a full-on fightback campaign to set the general public straight about these charlatans

The only way to beat these people is to show the uneducated public the truth about us and our dogs i.e. the silent majority who look after their greyhounds and find homes for them and show compassion for them if they are injured

Its simply not good enough to lay down and do nothing

You need to organise yourselves in a smart way using as many social media platforms as you can

But most importantly, your Board needs to get behind you and push the BIG BUCKS into positive advertising and positive programs for your sport in Ireland

The most important thing about their fightback...it is not a one-off event, it is an ongoing plan for the future...because these groups never stop lobbying politicians and the general public and eking donations from the public by bringing out videos and photos from 10 years ago to further their cause to shut the sport down worldwide

Irrespective of how well you fight them off one, they will keep coming

You really have to be extremely well organized

Your Board really needs to start liaising with the Australian State bodies...they have become experts at this

Otherwise you will end up like the USA...dead in the water
