IGB faces High Court challenge to Chief financial officer disciplinary process
Updated / Friday, 13 Dec 2019 15:15

The Irish Greyhound Board (IGB) has agreed to delay a disciplinary process against its chief financial officer until the High Court has considered an injunction application taken by him.

Michael Murnane is the IGB's chief financial officer. He previously served as its acting chief executive for a six month period in 2014.

Earlier this month he applied to the High Court for an injunction to stop a disciplinary process.

Details of the disciplinary issues were not disclosed in court this morning however his senior counsel, Cliona Kimber, said they were also looking for access to certain documents from the IGB.

She also asked for time to consider an affidavit sworn by the IGB's chief executive Ger Dollard, who was present in court.

Counsel for the IGB Lorna Lynch said the motion looking for documents was premature because an undertaking had been given not to progress the disciplinary process at the moment.

Both sides agreed to allow time for Mr Murnane to respond to the IGB's affidavit and the case will be heard again next Thursday.

Mr Murnane joined the IGB in September 2012 having previously been the financial controller at Adare Manor Hotel and Golf Resort and he had also worked for accountancy firm Grant Thornton.

He has represented the IGB before the Public Accounts Committee on a number of occasions.

More tax payers money going down the toilet.
Its time now that a full internal Audit was carried out within the IGB JMHO.
The going must be getting tough for the executives of the IGB they are now looking for new employment before the real shit hits the fan.
