Wow... lots of wild ideas for a simple problem. When we have a racer prone to cramping we take several tacks.
1. Calcium - We supplement the racer's feed with a 600mg calcium "liqui-gel" on his race day snack. If he's really bad about cramping, we'll give him one the day prior to and day of the race.
2. Potassium - We used to supplement their snack with a potassium tablet. I forget the dosage because it's been so long ago... but, now, we give the racer a whole banana the morning of his race. Can't go wrong when you have Mother Nature on your side.
3. Fluids - Any number of elctrolyte replenishers will suffice. We, however, use a mixture of water and Dyne. Here's a link w/ info about the product: EXTERNAL LINK Hope this helps.

Thanks anyway Glen and Christopher had a blood test done calcium too high but bi-carb level too low but the blood test taken an hour after he raced it also showed some form of muscle damage. Cheers Ted

Ted,I hope this does not offend, but trying to help.The bi-carb level as I sugested earlier in a post, needs raising by more bi-carb in the main meal,a less calcium diet,and the muscle damage is his cramped up muscles which are sore and do not come right overnight. Treat his cramping muscles with ultra sound and Zheng Gu Shui linement,also rub this linement into his muscles before you trial or race him. Also use bi-carb and vegemite in a litre of milk over a 1/2 loaf of stale brown bread,for his after race meal.Hope this helps as it did for an Irish trainer I used to help, and all my dogs, got this treatment if they needed it. Hi Carole, Hope your feeling better now sorry to hear you were ill. Winklee Wonder won a heat of the derby monday night and cramped worse than usual but has cramped after every race hes had from day one a chap suggested it was neosporum what is that.P.S. We dont walk him around till he has recovered and he seems to come out of it faster and better than walking him around. Cheers Ted.

Hi Carole, thank-you for that advice raced nosey, wonders brother tuesday ,he cramps just the same as the good dog did what you said no cramps. The other dog is back in work havent ran him yet but ive got my fingers crossed it works for both of them. Thanks again cheers Ted.

Bill, email me at [email protected] and detail everything you are feeding him, and giving him in the way of supplements, vitamins, and especially which electrolytes/kidney flushers/neutralisers you may be using. Have you had a full blood test done and have you had his tonsils checked ?

With the current issue regarding B12 & Cobalt with us is Amino Lite ok to use without risk of a positive swab???
I thought I read that AminoLite (if injected) within 24 hours was way above the nominal limit set.

I can't answer your questions about it, but I do know that Troy make an identical product called Aminoforte, which is about $25 or so cheaper, for the same amount.

Yes, Amino forte seems to have replaced Amino Lite now.
B12 is listed as part of the makeup of the product, so would the use of Amino forte bring about a positive???
