Great day of racing at Bundaberg, Started early and finished early due to a Camel racing day, but the positive was that the races overlapped and it was great to see 500-600 people lined up against the fence watching the dog races, GAP was in attendance and wandering through the crowd with their charges who behaved beautifully, another positive experience in Bundaberg for many who would have only been exposed the negative side through recent media
These cross promotion days may be the way to get positive exposure to the people who haven't experienced a day at the dogs

Wad a good day with a big crowd to watch the last couple of races. With all the media attention the past months I didnt here 1 negative comment on track about greyhound racing & most wanted to see more races. Organisation could have been better & a missed opportunity for the club.
Shame of the day was the CAMEL RACING. Which most went to see. They were rigged. Some had head starts with out telling anyone that they were handicap races. Yes, the bookmaker was betting on them. Wasnt officially run, it was a joke. People done their dough. The same 4 camels raced 7 times in the space of 2 hours. Some were hit with hard black water pipe as a whip. Thats what the RSPCA needed to see.

FYI all,
Racing Queensland wishes to advise stakeholders that the Bundaberg greyhound race meeting originally scheduled for Saturday 8 August 2015, has now been transferred to Saturday 15 August 2015.
Nominations for this meeting will close on Thursday 13 August at 8:30am due to the Wednesday being a public holiday in the Brisbane area and as such the RQ office will be closed.

Posted on April 24, 2018 by QGBOTA Please be advised that Racing Queensland are holding an open meeting at the Bundaberg Track on Sunday April 29th at 10.30am. This meeting was planned for March, however the reason for the delay is unknown.
Racing Queensland intend to explore the viability the continuance/closure of the Bundaberg Club and track as discussed in the February Greyhound Advisory Meeting.
This will be held in the absence of any QGBOTA representation as RQ are aware that Mr Stephen Lennon will be overseas at the time of this meeting.
The QGBOTA encourage any participants in the vicinity, that are interested in the future of their club to please attend with gusto.

I have posted the following on the QGBOTA website.
Participants expected to go to this meeting should have been notified 2-weeks ago (at a minimum) & not mid-week of the proposed date, so commitments already organized on the day could be avoided.
Talk about stacking the deck. And with the absence of Stephen Lennon (QGBOTA President due to travel) also on the day for reasons that RQ were obviously aware of, this type of tactic is what participants of this industry have come to expect from those ticking the boxes.
There's obviously an intention to weaken the core and it's members at this meeting, to push forward agenda's that will be shouted & frown upon.
This meeting which was expected last month, has now been moved to the last Sunday in April to suit RQ & those representing the board. I now ask for the same opportunities to be extended to those members of the Bundaberg Club, so arrangements can be fulfilled fairly for all to attend.
If the Board wants to earn respect from their shareholders, they have to offer it first.

Even under club rules you need to give 10 clear days notice of any meeting. Found this out yesterday via text message from RQ.
Reckon the Bundaberg people can stick up for themselves.
Are RQ going there to dictate or to listen.
They have already asked the questions & have been told the answers. But do they want to listen or or twist things around to suit themselves.
Will be very interesting on the day.
Some will go just for the free sandwiches & cakes.

They have a plan no doubt, calling a meeting claiming it to be an investigation is a ruse. RQ know very well that the main impediment to the functioning of the club is slashing of race dates with no avenue for the club to earn revenues for the weekly set costs, they also know that off course income streams via TAB is vital for ANY club to underpin revenue. They were well aware of the circumstances when the $273000 announcement last year. Rumours are that to save the club a case for a further reduction in race dates will be presented by RQ I hope the scuttlebutt is wrong.A public trainer can not enter into 50/50 arrangements and an owner cannot supplement a dogs career when it is sitting in a kennel 23 weeks a year.
The QGBOTA have announced Vice President Sid Goodwin will be present
