They have a plan no doubt, calling a meeting claiming it to be an investigation is a ruse. RQ know very well that the main impediment to the functioning of the club is slashing of race dates with no avenue for the club to earn revenues for the weekly set costs, they also know that off course income streams via TAB is vital for ANY club to underpin revenue. They were well aware of the circumstances when the $273000 announcement last year. Rumours are that to save the club a case for a further reduction in race dates will be presented by RQ I hope the scuttlebutt is wrong.A public trainer can not enter into 50/50 arrangements and an owner cannot supplement a dogs career when it is sitting in a kennel 23 weeks a year.

The QGBOTA have announced Vice President Sid Goodwin will be present

The question MUST be asked,if it's feasible for Capalaba to go TAB why IS Bundaberg DISCRIMINATED AGAINST with the same amount of races per week?

Because its in the South East Corner.

We all know nothing else matters elsewhere in the state.

To be fair Capalaba has done it tough as well with the burden of date slashing and RQ effectively determining the fate of clubs through taking a Nero type attitude. They also have the challenge of flooding. All speed to the Capalaba club.

Meeting was convened by Simon Stout Interim CEO Racing QLD, Adam Wallish,Dale Cartwright and Mary Collier. I didn't count participant numbers but the room was full. RQ committed to 18/19 Race Dates,80k of expenditure in the immediate future for upgrades to infrastructure. TAB remains a work in progress.

It will ALWAYS remain a work in progress while Racing Qld continue to shaft the greyhound code, aka the .replacement of the Parklands one turn track for the past 8 years.

Announcement today by Dale Cartwright that the Club is to be afforded TAB status, tentative start date pursuant to successful testing is early to mid May, race date will be twilight Mondays at this stage. Confirmation that next years Cup will be $38k. It has been a particularly frustrating time for the Club over the last few years and we thank RQ, Dale and others involved with the decision processes for having the confidence to let us push on.

Yes, great news John & about time....The only problem is it's 10 years too late.

With racing meetings being CUT over the past 10 years from 48 annually to just "2 racing meetings every 3 weeks" (on average), it has seen trainers in the area leave in droves. And with the announcement of race meetings to be run on a working day Monday, a day that does not suit this district, I personally find it hard how the club can survive racing on a Monday.

I'm sure the announcement of TAB status may spark some who have hung up the collar in recent times, but there will also be those that have work commitments & can't simply commit to Monday meetings.

As I've been stating for 10+ years now, mid-morning on a Sunday suits Bundaberg best regarding TAB status. By doing this, Bundaberg & Rockhampton trainers can compliment each others race-meeting, something they won't be able to do with Monday meetings.

Without the extra number of greyhound trainers from Bundaberg having the opportunity to race at the Rockhampton race meetings, races fields in Rocky will continue to shrink as we've seen in recent times, but quicker.

It is great news, participants up here also needed people pushing to not only get TAB but to ensure our survival as,a club at all,a major contributor to our survival and no doubt into the future was the QGBOTA Steve, Christine, Sid and other members pushed hard for us and continue to fight for country clubs. Sid attended a meeting here and sat shoulder to shoulder with us at a time when our very future was unclear, and I thank the QGBOTA for the support they are in the trenches everyday fighting for us

Capalaba having TAB status has been a great success but I have concerns about Bundaberg being as successful for the reasons below.
1. Monday twilight... working day for many trainers
2. Too close to Rockhampton's Wednesday meeting
3. Will southern trainers travel on a Monday?
4. Many trainers have children & must pick up from schools
I have dogs myself located at Bundy so hopefully my concerns prove to be unfounded & the transition is a game changer for CQ greyhound racing. As an owner/breeder based in Gladstone, it was a short drive to watch my dogs race on Saturdays but I will be recording the races now to watch after work. All that said, I am excited about the future for my pups & obviously the prize money increase

Bundaberg should have been TAB 10 years ago........we all know that....but hey....its going to happen so its all good.

Hopefully a few trainers who gave up waiting may now come out of retirement.....just as Brian is doing.

Plus....Fraser Coast Council are very greyhound friendly. If you have a property of 5 acres or more.....you can immediately get a 6 dog licence......and you can add to that later on.

Things haven't looked this good for some time.
