Another one might be a bit obscure but not back as far as 1930's or 40's.

In this White City Derby final, four of the six finalists were by the same sire, a fifth had the same grand sire as the 4 already mentioned. Grand sire is top line of course.

A question for Irish interests, a number of greyhounds ran in the Irish Derby final circa 1990 but even if they passed the post FIRST they could not pick winners prize money - WHY.

O.K This was the first year that Kerry sponsored the Derby, the named it The Respond Irish Derby. The used a points system for the stake, heat winners were given points for each win. When the final was reached we had a situation where some dogs were so far back points wise that they could not win. The Other Toss spared blushes and it was a six dog final. The system was dropped after that.

Come lads gives a few that will keep us up all night.

One for the experts:

bred by a former reporter of two IE papers, now racingmanager
had a well known prefix in IE
the dog in question won twice the biggest race on European continent and was runner up in a third one.

I don't know the answer Werner but I'd like to thank Peter Crawford for coming up with this fun topic which keeps some of the history of our great sport alive today and is engaging people from all over the world to join in.

Well done Peter.
