Which greyhound held the title for winning the most prizemoney in Australian, only to lose that mantle 24 hours later?
Clue.
1, It happened around 30 years ago.
2. Male.
3. He was a 3 times Victorian Greyhound of the year "FINALIST", winning that award once.

Pretty Fearless was the THEN current title-holder for the most prizemoney at the time and the great BOLD TREASE broke it on a Wednesday, when breaking a track record I beleive at Ballarat. Then the very next night, DANCING GAMBLE won a $50,000 race (Gabba Cup I think) and exclipsed Bold Trease's record.

I started racing at 16 months.
At just 19 months I made the Silver Chief Classic Final, but could only manage to finish 4th.
At 23 months I finished a battling but credible 3rd in the Melbourne Cup, ran in race record time. I would later contest another Melbourne Cup and finish 2nd.
I am a Warragul Cup winner.
I was a placegetter in a National Sprint Final.

Correct Steve.
Graham, the GRV article mentioned the match race between Half Your Luck and New Mariner being orgnised because of their intense "rivalry", I believe the two met in total on 11 clashes with Half Your Luck finishing with eight victories and two seconds to New Mariners three wins and six seconds.
Whilst it is debatable which was the better dog, for mine - Half Your Luck, New Mariner did beat him in two Group 1 finals - the Melbourne Cup and the National Sprint Championship held at Harold Park.

Its great to witness rivalry between top notchers. Same time the other side of the world a similar rivalry between Dolores Rocket & Supreme Fun. Little did I realise that in future years these two racers bloodlines would have a big influence in Australian racing. ( Waverley Supreme & Come on Wonder) Dolores Was a speed freak with hard chasing trait. Supreme Fun was not as quick but the chase factor was pure tenacity, he never gave in. Iron Dog
